Bookie Preview: Everton vs Chelsea

They looked a little jaded at times and the manner of the goal conceded could have sapped their confidence but to their credit, the Everton players continued to fight and picked up a decent away point at the DW Stadium last weekend.

That now stretches the unbeaten run to five games in all competitions. The question is if they can keep it going against a Chelsea side which has been stuttering all season. The manner of the London side’s draw with United last Sunday won’t have done their confidence much good and they should be in for another tough day at Goodison Park.

The return of Stephen Pienaar to Merseyside has added some added attacking creativity to David Moyes’ side. Landon Donovan has been excellent since returning on loan and if Everton are to cause a shock and win at 11/5, these two are likely to be central figures. Donovan has yet to score during this spell but the American is worth looking at to score first at 12/1. Victor Anichebe has been making something of a habit of scoring late goals and if he starts on the bench he could be worth backing to score last at 10/1. New signing Jelavic should be ready to start and is 8/1 to open the scoring.

Everton have a solid home record against Chelsea in recent times. If the Carling Cup tie in October is put down as a technical draw, then the Londoners have failed to win at Goodison Park on their last five visits. The Everton win at 11/5 is a definite possibility but given the number of draws both sides have racked up in the last month that may be the sensible route with a tie priced up at 9/4 and a 1-1 scoreline at 5/1.
