Man Utd 1-0 Everton

Javier Hernandez late winner gave Manchester United the points at Old Trafford against a resolute Everton.

Everton parked the bus at Old Trafford and looked destined to make it eight games without defeat until Sylvain Distin´s error gifted United possession for Antonio Valencia to send over a pin point cross from the right, met by Javier Hernandez at the far post who put an unstoppable header past Tim Howard seven minutes from time.

The goal was just deserts in fairness, after United had laid siege to Tim Howards goal. Hernandez in particular had forced two top quality saves from the American, with Wayne Rooney also seeing a 25-yard free-kick well saved and Distin also seeing a sliced clearance hit his own post.

Everton edged the parked bus a little more forward and attempted to take the game to United in the second half when Moyes hauled off Jermaine Beckford, who was playing his own game of ´stuck in the mud´ and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov for Tim Cahill and Victor Anichebe, and it was Anichebe who gave United their biggest scare of the afternoon.

Victor done very well to take possession into the United penalty area after outpacing Rio Ferdinand, who promptly hauled the Nigerian over to give a huge penalty shout but referee Peter Walton realised he was at Old Trafford and waved play on. Tit.

Moments later, Van der Sar denied a Rodwell shot which took a deflection off Evans to push it round the post.

But from then on it was all United as they produced wave after wave of attack.

Distin was fortunate not to find his own net when he sliced the ball onto the woodwork before then gifting possession away from which Hernandez capitalised on to edge United closer to a record 19th league title.
