There would be more to do than just that, but my take is that being different benefits us in two big ways: one is we’re recruiting different players from everyone else and the other is we’re a unique challenge to play each week. Toss in that imo a well put together 3-4-3/3-5-2 is much more adaptable week to week with regards to how aggressive you’d like to be without having to shift the team around largely and we have a really workable platform for competing in a league where we’re never going to out spend or have a team of better players than the best sides.
It’s a road I’d like to explore. Palace have shown how it can work. People will say their league positions aren’t good enough but this year was a bit of a mess trying to play twice a week without depth. They’re still a solid side.
