Your XI for Southampton

I take your point on board mate and it's a valid one but Lukaku has been lazy and when Jelavic came on he seemed quite lively? Think Lukaku will start though, he'll start scoring again soon...But I could probably guarantee you that Roberto will want a Striker in Jan

I don't agree with the lazyness really. Just becuase he isn't running at 100mph all game. Jelavic is coming on to try and prove to everyone, and more so himself I think, that he still has it. Jelavic looked lively as he's fresh off the bench and is desperate just to play, IMO.

Completely agree we need a striker in January, if anything to keep Lukaku on his toes and perhaps offer something different. Someone like Kozak would do for me, strong presence, good in the air and a different option to Lukaku. It's a shame about Kone really, as much as he missed a couple of really, good chances, I still think he'd be able to offer something in games like Thursday's.

Everyone writing Kone off already is pis*ing me off tbh mate, I think he'll be good for us and he just needed his 1st goal. People saying Rom needs resting but who can we bring in for him? Martinez doesn't fancy Jela at all and Vellios isn't gonna play is he? Hearing shouts that Martinez is after Finborgson (i apologise for the spelling).

I don't see any reason to rush Baines back, and I think a proper 4-4-2 would be fine

-------------Robles
coleman jagielka distin Oviedo
Mirallas McCarthy Barkley Pienaar
------------Naismith
-----------------Jelavic

We've seen very little of Naismith in his natural position, and he and Jelavic have been given few opportunities to rediscover their form at Rangers. In the second half bring Baines on for Pienaar and push Oviedo forward, or bring Baines on for Naismith and push Pienaar more central, and Oviedo forward, in either case giving us more pace out wide. After tracking Jelavic for half the game, tired defenders might find it difficult to close down someone as strong as Lukaku when he's brought on as a sub. Since Lukaku has been finding it difficult to find space recently, coming off the bench might be exactly what he needs

Osman has been ok in barkleys role so if barkley drops to mid it should be him playing there.

Naismiths runs a lot and works hard...thats not enough for that position. With him and Lukaku up there we'd have no possession sticking due to their poor touch...woeful in naismiths case.

Osmans the best option in there in the squad.

Oviedo left with Pienaar central maybe could work but not sure if this is the game to try it.

Robles
Seamus Jags Distin Oviedo
macca ross
Mirallas osman pienaar
Lukaku

Anyone who thinks Osman will be left out to "teach him a lesson" are fooling themselves, football or Martinez don't work like that.

Baines will be on the bench and Osman will start with Barkley and Mccarthy behind.

suspect you are right. Osman will probably start...and, football gods being capricious deity, he'll probably play a blinder
