Your Top 5 Computer Games Ever.....

I almost did that, then realised the wife wouldn't give a sh*t. So left her to her crocheting. Or WoW. Whichever it was.

Also, loved the way you would pop into VATS, up against a Supermutant, aim for the head and dissolve his body into a gooey mess in one shot.

I've been doing that for most of the game anyway. You know the guard/android in Rivet City? I got him to give me his ace plasma rifle and have been using it as my main weapon ever since.

Coupled with high luck and energy weapon stats, along with VATS enhancing perks, I can dissolve numerous people in seconds. It's ace.

VATS is one of the best gameplay mechanics I've ever come across.

Ooo, have you found Lincoln's Repeater??? Absolutely spectacular gun. ZERO spread on it, as in it shoots EXACTLY where you point it, outside of VATS.

Nah. I just checked the vault* and I think I walked right past it ages ago.

*The vault is a wiki dedicated to the fallout games, if you don't know. It's scary how detailed it is. I mean... every weapon, bug, minor character, faction, armour variant, quest, sidequest, unmarked sidequest... ack. EVERYTHING is on there. It's ace.

I know about the Vault. The problem with the repeater is it uses Magnum .357 rounds, which are very scarce in the game. So it is a very limited use weapon. But absolutely bitchin'

Yeah the ammo is weird in F3. I got a sniper ages ago and just did away with it as .308 ammo was super hard to find. That and in the Anchorage dlc you get the Gauss rifle, which is the energy equivalent of a sniper, except it uses MF cells. And I had/have about 2000 of them.

Ahh, I am SOOOOOOO glad we have hijacked this into a Fallout thread.

*Checks trump card ratings* Yep.

5. Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne

It was a toss up between Ocarina of Time, Chrono Trigger and this title for fifth place, but I had to have an RTS in here somewhere. Whilst much praise has been given to Blizzard for World of Warcraft (which may go down as the greatest game of all time), in the time before that the Warcraft franchise was still alive and well. Like it's stable mate Starcraft, Warcraft was the daddy of the strategy genre, competing manfully with Command & Conquer. What gave Warcraft the edge was the immersible storyline and lovable graphics. And to Blizzards credit, the games always meant something - the storylines were never generic, with the tale of Prince Arthas being seduced by the Lich King in Warcraft 3 being carried on in WoW. Intuitive controls and Battle.Net multiplayer availability make WC3 a hit even today.
Totally agree. I'm actually so so so sad about what Warcraft has become. I played the first, second and third games and can't fault any one of them, they were all absolutely amazing games. I fear I'll never see Warcraft 4, because of WoW :(

My top 5 would be, in no order:
Warcraft3, Diablo2, Baldurs Gate, Counterstrike and right now I can't think of another game worthy of standing alongside these amazing games.

Nah mate, Blizzard will make a TON of money from Warcraft 4. I reckon, when Diablo 3 is done development will start on Warcraft 4. Just my gut feeling.

1: Neverwinter Nights Hordes of the Underdark (just a superb story)
2: Metal Gear Solid
3: Super Metroid
4: Elite
5: Quake

I am really glad to see Elite start to pop up on people's lists. Really, really good game. Possibly one of the first, truely open-ended games out there.

It was boss because it truly was a game to play how you wanted.

And another 5 year massive anticipation wait cycle will begin for a game I'd expect to be incredible. I know so many people who hardly play video games anymore or PC games, but they're still readying up for Diablo 3. I could imagine the same would happen if a 4th Warcraft came out. Does WoW attempt to continue where Frozen Throne left off? I hope not!

1. Oblivion
2. Borderlands
3. FM series
4. Pro Evo series
5. Elite or SWOS can't decide

and a mention to soccer boss on C64 bloody great game before licenses etc oh and rocketball and impossible mission on C64.
