Your Time Is Gonna Come

This post made me feel sick. Tell that to the thousands of blues who went to Wembley, Villarreal, Kharkiv, Nuremberg, Alkmaar, Brann and had a great time.

you're missing the point, not that I don't somewhat agree with you, what was the end product in terms of silverware/glory?

Nowt.

All it was was a decent piss-up in foreign parts

If we win the fa cup we get a trophy on our honours, we can celebrate, we've actually won something, thats what football is about right?

Our cup runs in recent years have not ruined our league form so i cant see why anyone would be happy to get knocked out to Cheltenham.

As for champions league, look at spurs, being in it doesnt mean ull be in it for ever, and due to our lack of european football in the last couple of seasons we'll probably get another shocking qualifying tie anyway.

Yeah but have you seen who spurs have being buying recently . Champions league has got them linked with a lot of good players . We say that if moyes had the money we could push on well champions league gives us that money

They have plenty of money anyway. The champions league only gives you that kind of money if you do well in it year after year. 20million only gets you a couple of decent players now when you take wages into account, or 1 top class player. It would be great for us if we could qualify, but it wouldn't change everything, and our current squad couldn't cope with all of the extra fixtures.

It would be typical if we qualified for the Champions League, sold Fellaini and accessed a massive load of new TV revenue all at the same time.

Kenwright will then spend about 30million, and we will be told to shut up and don't be so ungrateful, despite the fact that the above scenario would most likely see us bring in about 90 million pound.

This

If we finished in the top4 and got through to the group stages then the money would be nice but it would only be a one off hit (like selling Rodwell) - there would not be a cat in hells chance of us competing in Champs league and being in the Top8 next season never mind the top4
We dont have the infrastructure in place - we would need at least 6 new players and that is not going to happen, is it ?

would rather we got 4th this year, get the revenue that comes with it, use that to bring in 1 top class signing and 1-2 good squad players and then aim for a trophy the season after like others have said until kenwright pisses off we havent the money to invest in the squad

would also hope our ****e marketing side of the club would actually get us a better sponsership deal in the event of us getting CL football but I wouldnt hold my breath.

You qualify for the Champions League, and the income gives you a greater likelihood of future successes.

If you win the FA Cup, you qualify for a sub-par European competition that screws up your fixture list for the following season and it hampers your overall progress.

I wouldn't shed too many tear if we lost to Cheltenham. It's modern football; it's all about the Champions League. People will go dewy eyed over the FA Cup or, God forbid, the League Cup, but they don't matter in the slightest.

The FA/League Cup is for the bottom half of the Premier League and the tiers below that. It's not the slightest bit relevant for a club with serious ambitions of having proper success.

Box of worms opened there. While I don't agree fully with what you've wrote you must some pertinent points like.

There would be a natural bounce of optimism for the club on winning the FA Cup but ultimately it's not going to give us the money we need to sign the couple of players we need to make a sustainable different.

There's no club in the land than can look down their nose at an FA Cup win though, a wonderful trophy.

F*cking walked into that one.

Pertinent lad? They don't know what that means in BOOTLE LAD, you FRAUD!
