I am optimistic purely because of Ancelotti. If he is given the time and patience as well as control of ins and out with Brands basically just doing an advise and fetch roll and Moshiri completely keeping out of football related issues, then i can see us becoming a much better team in the future.

I would think that he set similar sorts of demands out before agreeing to take the job so if we let him do what he was brought here to do, then there is definite cause for optimism but we need to be very patient because the club is in a complete mess.

I'd be optimistic about us in isolation but given the league we are competing in and the clubs we are competing against you can colour me pessimistic.

Ultimately I just think the usual big 6 and Leicester probably have justification to feel significantly more optimistic than us.

If ever there was an era to achieve success from a position of relative weakness this last decade has been it. The level of mismanagement at the bigger clubs has been genuinely epic. Sadly we missed that boat and watched Leicester sail off to glory in our place.

The pessimistic side of me says that if we revert to the norm of 4 or 5 of the sky super clubs being even moderately well run over the next decade then the best we can reasonably expect is to finish is between 5th and 7th even if Carlo gets all of our ducks in a row.

I just struggle to find much enthusiasm for that sort of a future.

Deffo erring on the side of pessimism despite the money of Mosh and the pre Everton reps of Brands and Ancelotti demanding otherwise

Over more decades than I care to remember this club inevitably finds a way of failing even Howie's team at it's peak managed to lose a cup final to the shte despite dominating. Goodison is a cause of PTSD in football terms and a life time of hiding behind the sofa with 5 mins to go praying they don't snatch another defeat from the jaws of victory optimism just doesn't figure.

Always have been optimistic generally. Was optimistic when Martinez came in thinking we would at last play attacking football. First season surpassed expectations so following season optimism soared. We ballsed it up. Koeman came in and again I was optimistic and his 1st season in the main was ok. Headed into his second season and then this is where it all went to pure mush for us (we all know what happened so no point stating it) We are still paying heavily for it today. For me since Moshiri arrived we’ve got everything wrong and this feels like last chance saloon time. If we can’t do anything with Ancelotti then god knows where we go. If in the summer a mass clear out has taken place and new, young and hungry players have come in then I’ll be optimistic again. Big If on that though. Can’t see how we shift these players (we all know the names)

While Sunday is still a sore point, I do have some optimism because I feel that the horrific embarrassment that was felt may act as a catalyst for serious change.

We have a world-class, highly respected and experienced manager at the helm and a board who'll see how some drastic changes will need to be made.

If we've taken anything from this, we need to cull many players, be far more careful and astute with our signings and change the ethos/mentality of the club.

Moshiri has talked about how difficult it can to win us over and perhaps he's right (there are disadvantages), but also the reaction from fans will show the severity.

I hate to say it but you only have to look at how Klopp and FSG have changed the mentality of that shower, and what can happen if you take the necessary steps.

Players who aren't fully committed to the principles of the club and accept responsibility by work hard and taking feedback need to be moved on, and quickly.

We want everyone signing from the same hymn sheet and if they're not, ciao; if they are committed, we will support them to the hilt!

To be honest my expectations are rock bottom currently.

We have the best owner we could
We have the best DoF we could
We have the best manager we could

And I still feel as tho we are broken beyond repair.

Rehab goes through a rough patch before you see results, you can get the best doctors and nurses in the world but if you were a strung out meth addict, it's going to be a rough few days/weeks before things turn around, and even when you're healthy you may still have scars from your past. If that's a lesson on the current situation, take it as you may.

Im quite reactive really.

A few wins and I will be dreaming of CL again.

Just with the abject display, fans abusing players on twitter then going to FF, not really seeing any togetherness.

I mean im not stupid to think that these multi-millionaires are in "this" with me, but still.

I prefer to call myself realistic rather than optimistic or pessimistic
My realistic genuine concern is that we could slide away this season after the recent shambolic performance plus alleged internal issues with morale and even more worryingly, quality of playing staff.
I fear a relegation battle is more likely than finishing in the top 7.
IF we went down the future would be bleak. The current debt position is further concerning and maybe only a bailing out by Usmanov would solve that.

This really is last chance saloon in my eyes if we dont somehow make this work. Its gotten to the point where you now look at any positive result as an impending stop gap to more disappointment, strongly believe that anyone on here saying certain players (dont need to name names cause they stick out like a sore thumb) need to be shown that they arent welcome here when theyre name is announced at the game this weekend are 100% right because its not good enough. Anyone who disagrees is settling for second best in my eyes.

I’m pessimistic but that’s just they type of person I am. I’ll still go every home game until we fold. Actually a little bit give up caring about us at the minute. Can’t see us going down but can’t see us remotely doing anything exciting.
