Benoit, who hung himself, was receiving a 10-month supply of injectable steroids every three to four weeks, according to a DEA agent's affidavit. The case brought some mainstream media scrutiny, albeit briefly, on the wrestling business.

dealing or over using.

simple insanity.

i met davey boy smith near a gym over a decade ago, he was 'the british bulldog' and was colossal, drawfing both his minders.

he died of a heart related problem aged 40.

dealing or over using.

simple insanity.

Bit of both i think. Although not dealing in the strict sense (ie for money) i think he was supplying other wrestlers, although he was keeping a hell of a lot for himself.

Although in Benoits case steroids were probably not the main reason for what happened. Numerous concussions over the course of his career had left him with a brain resembling that of a old man with alzheimers. Combine that with drug abuse and it was a tragic incident waiting to happen.

One which the wrestling profession should of known was coming because its not like they weren't warned.

The true impact of concussions is still being debated but the drug problem has been a major one for wrestling for a long time now. Unfortunatly its one they choose to ignore.

Despite some all for show testing program and a few token suspensions absolutely [Poor language removed] all will be done about drug misuse in wrestling while Vince Mcmahon is still alive.

Steroids particulary. Bigger still does mean better in his eyes. If you want to make it in wrestling WWE is the place to go. And you have to be jacked to do so whether you like it or not.

And once you get there its a non stop struggle to stay there. Can barely walk from the bump you took last night? Forget taking the night off, take some painkillers till the pain goes away and go do what Vince wants you to.

Thats not to say there isn't a drug problem outside of WWE. There is.
But WWE is Premier League and everyone else is Conference.

Wrestlemania went down like this!

In the pre-show Battle Royal, Kane won by kicking Mark Henry over the top, so he will get a shot at ECW champion Chavo Guerrero shortly, and would be heavily favored to win. A quick Battle Royal that came off like a TV match.

JBL pinned Fit Finlay in the Belfast Brawl after hitting him with a kendo stick and a clothesline. Shorter than you'd think and no real heat. Hornswoggle came out with Finlay at the start and distracted JBL once. Stiff brawl with weapons like a cookie sheet, kendo stick and garbage can but a forgettable bout.

The Money in the Bank ladder match is up. Regarding the earlier tease, both matches that Matt Hardy could have been a late insert in he doesn't appear to be anywhere to be found. Spoke too soon. MVP was on the top ready to win when Hardy ran in and gave MVP a twist of fate off the top of the ladder. Hardy left. Benjamin took a scary bump off a ladder over the top onto a ladder between the apron and barricade and was never heard from again. C.M. Punk ended up winning when he and Jericho were on the top and Punk managed to get Jericho tied up and hanging upside down. Surprise ending. Match had a few spots where ladder wasn't cooperative and was the weakest of these Mania ladder matches in history. The outdoor setting is hurting the heat. Some very high risk spots of course.

Howard Finkel introduced the Hall of Fame people. They had Ric Flair's children out instead of Ric. Mae Young got the biggest pop, but I think most would have expected that since she's the one who has had the most television exposure of the people on the stage.

Snoop Dogg was out with Festus. Santino Marella acted like he was going to attack Snoop Dogg when Snoop Dogg rang a bell and chased Marella out. Snoop Dogg said he got the bell from Mick Foley who pulled out a Snoop Doog sock.

Batista vs. Umaga is up now. Batista won with a spinebuster and Batista bomb clean. Short match and has to be considered a major disappointment.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Kane for the ECW title is up next.

Kane entered from behind and choke slamed Guerrero in a legitimate 9 seconds to win the title. Unlike the 23 seconds called 9 seconds for the old Wrestlemania 9 second match.

Raven Simone is out talking about Make-a-Wish showing 50 kids from 50 states being brought in.

Ric Flair is up next. They are showing his videotape now.

Flair vs. Michaels is on next.

Shawn won in 20:00 saying, "I'm sorry, I love you,
and then superkicked him for the pin. They worked hard and it was easily the best thing so far on the show, but the outdoor setting took a lot from it. Michaels did all he could and they told a story with Flair fouling him in every way possible and almost winning. It was the right match as far as lay-out, far from perfect in execution. Flair was crying in the ring and is getting a big standing ovation. His kids are crying like crazy. It's memorable, but it is not the home run that the situation deserved. No speech. He just walked off. Some "Thank you Ric" chants but not really catching on. It's the end of an era.

Maria & Ashley vs. Beth Phoenix & Melina are up now.

There was a power failure during the match but they got back up power on, but it's pretty dark. Maria had Phoenix beat with a bulldog off the top rope but Marella broke up the pin. Jerry Lawler decked Marella but Phoenix pinned Maria with a fisherwoman suplex.

Snoop Dogg with clothesline on Marella out of nowhere after the match and he kissed Maria and it wasn't quite the kiss.

HHH vs. Cena vs. Orton is up now. That means either Undertaker or Mayweather are in the main event spot.

As far as the Cena question, he's gotten more boos, by far, than anyone so far on the show. Fan poll had 52% thinking Cena wins and 40% thinking HHH. This is the one they did the swerve on because too many people were expecting one thing or the other. HHH gave Cena a pedigree after escaping the FU and as he was pinning Cena, Orton used the running kick of death and pinned HHH. Good match, best thing on the show so far.

That explains why this match wasn't put in the main event position.

Big Show vs. Floyd Mayweather is next.

This worked better than any match on the show. Mayweather was a great heel. He ran away for a while. Show knocked around several of Mayweather's handlers. There was a spot where Mayweather tried to walk out but Show threw down some handlers and brought him back. Mayweather took a side slam, and they did a spot where Show stepped on his hand, which he sold big, and walked on him. Finish saw Mayweather grab a chain with Brass Knux from one of his guys' necklaces and hit Show with it for the knockout. The way it was done, with Mayweather leaving with so much heat, you have to expect he's being brought back. By the way, the handler who was taking most of the bumps was Charles "The Hammer" Evans, who has been in developmental for a while.

74,635 was the announced attendance.

Edge vs. Undertaker for the World title finishes the show.

This is the one where they pulled out all the stops. Each kicked out of all the others' big moves, including Edge kicking out of a tombstone due to a ref bump and Charles Robinson ran in to make the count. They played off Edge costing Taker the title last year by kicking out of the camera shot. Finish saw Edge use two spears but as Edge went for the pin, Taker used the gogoplata and Edge kicked out. This was a definite Wrestlemania caliber main event and a strong conclusion to the show.

I hope you enjoyed it Roy:lol::lol::lol::lol:

ach, its all entertainment. Course its fake but its great to watch and the script writers are ace! Corrie, Eastenders and Emmerdale could learn a bit from them!
