That City game was unique in that pretty much every Evertonian in Merseyside I knew wanted the City win, but it was notable how out of town Evertonians didn't feel the same way. It spelled out the difference in attitude depending on location.

For me, it was a no brainer - the Liverpool title win simply couldn't have been allowed to happen. The only way I would have wanted an Everton win in that situation is if it would have kept us up, or perhaps if it would have secured a top three finish. Any other scenario, I was crossing my fingers for a loss.

This is one of the primary reasons for the thread, not just to "poke Matty with a stick", although that's gone well, even if he is a sound lad at heart.

I am curious if it is a location thing? Perhaps it is. The poll isn't saying that, but early days.

If he's going, it'll be in the summer so for now I'd just like to see Everton get as many points as possible from the last few games and finish with some self-respect intact.

The poll is about an entirely different issue though. It doesn't matter where you live, you shouldn't actively want an Everton side to lose just so that a manager is jibbed off.

I made no assumptions at all.

You said you were a bit chuffed that we got beat by City, as the other results were in. Therefore you enjoyed us being beaten as it gubbed the RS, same as most of the rest of us felt in that day.

As I said, it's all about the context, and I'd say your stoning of @matty1878 has now back fired somewhat

Is your taxi on a meter lad?

Sorry mate, that's not accurate at all to how I felt. I think @Tubey put it far better than I could a few posts above.

I don't think anything's backfired, I just wanted to see what the truth of the matter is. If anything, his comments have backfired.

My logic is that bar the cup games (which I obviously don't want us to lose) we are in a completely meaningless string of league games between now and the end of the season. The clown has to go one way or another and if these last run of games which unfortunately are about as irrelevant as can be can help seal his fate I wouldn't have an issue with it.

No, that is just plain wrong.....in my eyes anyway.

Look...like most on here, my mood for half a week after an Everton game is dictated to a very large extent by the result of that game.

Ergo there is no such thing as "a string of meaningless league games" no matter even if we are in the no man's land that is mid table mediocrity.

They are all vital to me......especially those at home, which I will spend a good chunk of money to watch and devote a good few hours so to do.

I want to leave the Park happy after a victory.

And I certainly do not want to lose even one of them just to create further trouble for the manager.
