Bob Latchford 60M
George Telfer 30M
Peter Eastoe 20M
Asa Hartford 20M
Imre Varadi 10M
Mikel Madar A tin of hairspray.

Brum would be selling Bob to us for about £18M - at the height of his abilities (1977-79) we would have commanded about £32M for him (using current market prices as it were)

Bally post World Cup went for a record fee at the time - so we'd have been paying by today's standards about £35M - by 1968-70 he'd have been worth IRO £45M - about £25-30M by the time we actually sold him in late 71 (given that the team and his profile had diminished at this point).

As for Dixie.. by 1927-8 standards he surely would have been commanding £80-100M for that kind of return - no doubt we'd have pinched him from Rovers for a couple of million.

Don't know about Latch's value in todays game but Bally would be worth a kings ransom, what a player, for anyone that did not see him, it would be impossible to explain just how good he was.

....so, so true. Don't get me gushing, but Bally was playing tikki, takki before the term was invented. A true great on the world stage, man of the match in a World Cup Final and loved our club to death. He was truly one of us.

Latchford was no Lineker or Sharp, but I have to agree with your valuations, especially for Ball and Dixie..............

...makes me realise how old I am when you folk refer to your Dad's. It only seems like yesterday I was jumping up and down at Elland Rd when Big Bob dived to score that fabulous equaliser in the semi final against West Ham.

The first player to ever climb up the fencing after scoring a goal. Fact.
