WORST REFEREEING DECISION

Go on - when did we get a shocker in our favour? A real shocker where we "robbed" the oppos thanks to the ref. It'll have to be one that matters as well - not the 3rd goal in a 3-0 romp.

Off the top of my head, Arteta scored a pen that never was against blackburn in a game where they dominated us last year, the year before we scored the winner against fulham at home from a throw in that came off our player and Louis Saha scored an offside goal against arsenal to put us 1-0 up, we gave away a cast iron penalty that wasn't given against man U in the fa cup semi we won on penalties and Limpar dived for the penalty we needed not to get relegated.

I can't remember to be honest but is that what actually happened or just how the story goes to make it look more like a conspiracy?

And if it is, why get one of the most well known and respected referees in the world to throw the game? Surely some bum ref from Albania would of been a less risky option.

And why would UEFA by that bothered by 5 rather than 4 English teams being in the Champions League, surely they bring in more omney to the competition that teams from most countries? Or is it cause all those foreingers hate us?

And why did he not disallow the goal at Goodison? Or our goal at Villareal? Instead dislallowing a goal which still wouldn't of put us through anyway. Why didn't he send any of our players off if they were that bothered?

Sure it could of been a huge conspiracy but i think that thats just an easier way of getting over the hurt of losing out on Champs league rather than simply a human being made a mistake.
Well... The UEFA didn't want 5 brittish teams since that would make the nationalpoint quota very loopsided, and in addition to that they faced the problem with the winner of the previous season not being in the competition the year after. It also would cause a problem with the tv since 3 english teams would play the same day and at least 2 of them at home at some points.

I don't think everyone hate us, but we were the "fifth" team and the other four in the "big boy group" and so we were the fifth wheel.

And who better to fix this up, than a referee that had retired? If it wasn't "fixed" or a wish from UEFA.. why would they take a retired referee back for one game instead of giving the game to a referee that was still active? There can't be that few UEFA referees so they were forced to do it.

I'm not sure it's a conspiracy.. I said it stinks of being one. Thought it then, still do.

1. The Blackburn pen was in the same game Mason gave them 2 very soft pens as well.
2. A throw in? Not exactly a game changing error!
3. Saha at Arsenal - that was Mason as well. He gave them one back in the 2nd half - he's that kind of ref.
4. That's rubbish - Welbeck fell into & over Jags foot which was planted on the ground well in advance of the opponents challenge - it was a fantastic call by Riley - regardless of the sycophantic Man U obsessed media it was a great decision.
5. Yeah, that was spot on a dive but a dive can fool a ref all the time - just like Anelka throwing himself into Howard. In any event you've selected a referee's mistake not a criminally bad red card - miles offside goal - none of which come close to the level of the Thomas, Clattenberg, Poll, Atkinson calls.

No of course not. The derbies are rigged, I'll say that flat out. Happens too many times for it to be otherwise. The kopites put so much pressure on the refs that any weak minded one just buckles.

In other games though, I think we're as likely to get dodgy calls in our favour as against us.

I'd agree with that like.

We probably get the same luck as any other team decision wise throughout the season but derbies are outrageous. You just know if there's a contentious decision it's bound to go in their favour or if there's a refereeing mistake it's going to be detrimental to us.

Yeah overall we're no different to other teams.

In the derby? I was thinking about it at work the other day and from my memory all i can think of in the way of "dodgy" decision that went our way is Torres being denied a 3rd by being wrongly given offside a few years ago and one of Lucas's yellows was a bit dodgy in the Gosling derby.

Thats it.

Definitely Rodwell's red card. That derby was shaping up to be the most exciting for yonks. He was on fire in that game, was destined to have the game of his life and then made a stunningly perfect crunching tackle on Twatrez, only for the ref to send him off for it.

We lost the will, he got injured, we then lost more derbies and he left for Man City.

gotta say collina decision v villareal, i know its one of them where there has been a lot of goals like that chalked off, but that goal was huge for us and i was there and it could have been such a memorable time if we had got into group stage

yeah, if you was there then that definitely would hurt the most, especially as it could have been so significant. i was especially disappointed it was Collina, as before that i'd always liked the guy.

im gonna go with either the colina decision, mainly because of the importance...

for sheer stupidity... rodwells red card, hutchinsons goal that never was, and clattenburg win a 3 way on that

In your time watching Everton which referee's decision has angered you the most. For me it was the man from Treorchy, yes Clive Thomas for the "GOAL" that was back in April 1977 against the enemy at Maine Road.

Clive fookin Thomas. Cnut. Still to this day. May he be burning in eternal damnation. The cnut.

I remember a few years ago, away to Blackburn. The linesman had been dreadful all game and Arteta clearly wanted to knock him out at one point. Then Vaughan made a great run, got fouled, somehow passed the ball BACKWARDS to Johnson who ran past 3 defenders and scored. I was busy celebrating a wonder goal when the linesman raised his flag for offside. Not only was the ball played backwards but there were THREE defenders playing him onside.

That was the same season that Johnson was denied 10 clear penalties. Had we have got them and that goal we probably would have qualified for the champions league again. I genuinely believe that season destroyed Andy Johnson as a player. Was never the same after.
