Worst Individual Performances at Goodison

Some of Naismith's appearances in his first season were absolutely tragic, granted he had just recovered from an ACL and was stuck out on the right hand side my Moist.

Remember Stefan Rehn? Undoubtedly a tidy player(won a lot of caps for Sweden and had a long career)but looked completely out of his depth for Everton. I remember him coming on as a sub at home to Millwall(may have been his debut?) and getting booted up the arse a few times by Terry Hurlock before being put out of his misery by being substituted well before the end of the game.

Glen Keeley.

Glenn Keeley - close thread!
Keeley was woefully unfit and ill prepared for that game, but at least we only had to suffer him for 37 Mins. lol
NOBODY in a blue shirt had a good game that day.
Even one of my all time hero's Neville Southall had a stinker. In fact he was dropped (for Jim Arnold) following that horror show and punted off to Port Vale on loan.

I think Keeley had played top flight football for Newcastle a few seasons earlier, but when he came to us on loan,he'd spent most of his career at Blackburn in the old Divs 2 and 3. HK had obviously managed him at Blackburn and must have felt he could do a decent job for us as cover, but against a Liverpool team at the peak of their powers he was completely out of his depth. The only consolation I can take from that afternoon(I was 13 and knew that I'd be getting slaughtered in school on the Monday!)is that a few of our players from that 82-83 squad would go on to have great success with us and maybe they learned a bit of a valuable lesson of how ruthless you need to be to get to the top? Personally for me,the cup tie at Anfield a couple of seasons back and the semi final of 2012 against a bog average Liverpool side were far worse than the "Keeley derby".

Tony Thomas making his debut against Palace; was absolutely soaking wet after 5 minutes because he was an unfit, 3rd division waster. Got the arse tore out of him by the bald Italian
Don’t disagree with any of that really but I remember him crossing for two of Duncan’s goals when we came back from 2-0 down against Bolton . Im sure I remember at least one more in another game as well but who knows .

i’m not really arguing against your main point and my post isn’t really relevant to this thread but Thomas did at least do a little bit is all I mean .

In a bid to make my post relevant I suppose Glenn keeley , brief but horrendous and that Sunderland lad McShane I actually almost felt sorry for him .

I seem to remember Lescott having a stinker in the 6-1 vs Arsenal.

But I don’t know if that’s because I knew he was off and the teenage me blamed him for every goal.
He absolutely smashed his tools of the floor. He was a disgrace. Like if you stuck Eric Cantona in defence.
