Worrying trend on injuries

244 'injured' weeks...that's like a little over 6 squad members (25%?) being out for the whole season. We are damn fortunate Naisy is not one of them...he doesn't half put a good shift in, runs his socks off...

We've always struggled with injuries. There was a period when Arteta could never make a derby match (didn't Hibbert break his rib one year). We then had the quadruple ligament curse of 09 where leading up to the cup final we lost the entire spine of our team Jagielka Arteta and Yakubu to cruciates and also Anichebe all with a similar injury which was unbelievable. Pienaar and Givson have pretty much missed the last 18 months of football (will we see either this season?) and of course we had Mirsllas' imaginary hamstring injuries plus our usual key injury in any derby match: Cahill, Arteta, Mirallas (twice), Lukaku all stretchered off in a derby. We are a ridiculous club really when it comes to injuries. Haven't even mentioned Hibberts three year long tropical flu.

.....there have been lots of threads and discussions on our appalling record and the MI backs it up. We have an old school club doctor and an archaic approach. FF is well equipped but there is no innovation, no strategy. The strategy and innovation comes from the top and nothing will change until we appoint a modern day Club Doctor.

We have some of the best facilities in Europe at FF but we don't have the quality of staff to back it up especially in the medical department

We have been working more closely with a physio called lieven from Belgium who is one of the world's best but we need someone like him full time at finch farm and we need some more world reknowned medical staff at Everton

Oscar Bau who has only just come in to replace a guy who left ages ago in Craig mazur we also haven't properly replaced Steve tashijan who had a brilliant reputation and was very innovative but he was more about fitness

Most of the Physios who were here when the numbers were trending down are no longer here.
The Manager who set up the training schedule when the numbers were trending down is no longer here.

Oh 'K it then...It's all Martinez's fault

I don't think that we get any more " routine " injuries than any other club, but we have been unlucky with the long term injuries suffered by some players.
Kone, in general had a good history with injury until he got that horrendous knee injury after joining us.
Gibson , just seems to be a sick note.
Pienaar and Hibbert are players that are almost at the end of their careers and the mileage has caught up with them.

Apart from the four mentioned above we have a reasonable record.
There isn't much you can do about the recent injuries to Baines or Cleverley , injuries like that just happen, that s why you need a squad.
