i agree with that as well , and the penal colony bit as well , if they dont like are way of life put them somewhere else see if they like it there, save us going around the block a few times trying to deport them, also put repeat offenders there as well if they dont live by the rules let them go to the colony

What the hell, that's one of the most stupid arguments for a conversation ever.

I was just pointing out that there's obviously a mis-communication between us and the people who live in Iraq/Afghanistan/Pakistan/Somalia/Yemen - we need to do something about it.
 
Number 25, if they really believe that western goverments are ploting the downfall of Islam then I don't see any point in explaining to them as they are clearly to stupid to reason with. As for the Patrioctic thing, it wasn't a shot at you. Just what I think.

What is there to be Patriotic about? We've got a pretty appalling track record of dealing with this sort of thing and we refuse to admit it.

Sometimes I'm ashamed to be born a Brit, we need to take SOME responsibility for this.

Systematically taking land which didn't belong to us?
Managing to [Poor language removed] entire regions with our continued support of terrorism?
Sucking up to the yanks at any given opportunity?
Being so anti-anyone not white that it's getting silly?
Being so single minded that we can't improve on anything we've got, so we're just going to have the same problems over and over?
Distancing ourselves from any European financial matters which is helping the rise of the far-right?

So the people you were conversing who had access to the net & therefore the total picture of what prompted the "War on terror" & everything that has happened in the interim & yet you're trying to say our foreign policy is what directly creates the opinion that it's a crusade against Muslims?

Could it not be that they're choosing to be either obtuse, ignoring what suits them or allowing themselves to influenced by others within their own culture rather than being fully objective about the issue?

The 'persecution angle' is what feeds the fundamentalists diatribe.
