Not disagreeing with that though. By the rubbish laws of the game its a foul.

Look at it this way (and to be fair this is assumption but...)

Van Der Gragt is 100% concerned with getting the ball right? That's all she wants, no foul, no intention of hurting anyone, she wants to get a touch on that ball.

Morgan is not 100% concerned about getting the ball. She cant do anything with it, she is more concerned about creating contact, she wants that foul, she wants that penalty so she plays for it.

Does that not seem a bit flawed top you? One is actively trying to play the game, the other is trying to gain an advantage any way she can and that is the one who gets the reward? And it happens week in, week out.
Morgan did play the ball before the contact.

Part of the game is not doing dangerous things. It's 100% her responsibility to not kick someone in the shoulder. If her foot was a foot off the ground and Morgan went diving at it then maybe what you're are saying would be valid but that's not what happened.

Oh so you're full on tin foil hat
Hardly mate. That's a fairly lame dismissal to another man's opinion.

1. Most top teams have top nutritional experts maintaining their explosive and stamina abilities at the top of their curve.

2. This US team defy the law of averages by running faster and longer than any other pro team.

3. US owned Liverpool FC have adopted similar traits recently.

4. US is a scientifically ahead of the curve nation, developing new chemicals snd drugs daily.

5. Cleverly designed Performance enhancing Drugs can be made to not be detected by current methods.

6. Your compatriot Lance Armstrong and his entire support team illustrated the lengths that some of your sportspeople would be prepared to go to to steal success from others.

Ergo it is entirely possible - no tin hat required.

Oh - and there's the pumped up staring eyes of some of them.

Saying the women's soccer team is juicing in 2019 because the US makes drugs, the RS owner is American and Lance Armstrong juiced in the late 90s and early 00s is full on Alex Jones mate. So yeah I'm dismissing your opinion.

My suspicions about the superhuman stamina and speed aside, it was absolutely legit for defender to go for the ball there. Morgan was going down before contact. Game bought again. They've been going down easily all through the tournament. If you can't call that cheating you shouldn't follow sport.

Guy still going on about stimulants with absolutely zero proof.
One does not need proof for suspicion. Your statement lacks any comprehension of logic. If the authorities do not yet have the tests that reveal proof, it follows there will be no proof. This in itself does not prove innocence. Happily though, you are within reason to suspect innocence.

Then every match men or womens over the last decade has been cheated as players have been going down easily all over the shop at all levels of the game. I don't like it but it's been a widespread issue for years now.

Super human stamina?? The US team got rotated more than any team in the tournament due to their depth and they still had players struggle with hamstring injuries.

I sort of agree with your overall sentiment on the cheating thing. The problem is the game has gotten to a point where referees give nothing if the player stays up. So going down is almost necessary or defenders are enabled to kick, hold, and impede players as much as they want. I almost can't blame players entirely because the referees are absolutely complicit.

However with all that said, this is not an incident where any of this gamesmanship stuff applies at all. It was 100% a foul at any level of football in any era anywhere on Earth. You can talk about Morgan seeking out contact if you want but she's moving in the direction of the ball so regardless of if she has any intention to play it she is entitled to go that way. The Dutch player is not allowed to have her foot at shoulder height and make contact with an opponent. I'm honestly dumbfounded that people think there is a debate to be had here but I guess that just shows that nothing can ever be 100% agreed on by a group of people short of Putin winning reelection.

The players do it all the time in the mens game and it's inexcusable and abhorrent. It's why my interest in the game has plummeted.

It's just so bad here in the woman's game because it stands out. Most other women's teams haven't sunk to those "ptofessional" levels of gamesmanship yet. It's what has made this tornament so watchable.
