Yeah I generally fall in line with her thoughts on some of the issues she talks about but I still don't really care for her that much. And I genuinely think if she wasn't on penalties she would be viewed as having a poor tournament.
A bit Harry Kane then...

She was challenging for the ball until she realized a foot was there for her to be impaled by at which point she braced for it. Again that foul can't happen if the defenders foot is on the ground or at least not shoulder height.

Right ok, so defenders should just stand there, hands at their side, feet on the ground at all times? Because that is how the game is going.

She has bought the foul totally went looking for it and conned everyone, happens all the time, she certainly isn't the only one to have ever done it but I personally think its rubbish and sums up modern football. Drawing a foul is obviously more important than trying to win the ball.

I don't think there was ever a point in football where kicking some at chest height was acceptable. This "games gone" stuff is wild for this particular incident.

And it still feels like they could have been even better

Yeah deffo.

I thought they were beatable but nobody really stood up to them. Spain gave them a good game, and France and England could have done better. The only other team capable of beating them was Germany and they dipped in the quarters of course.

There is a massive difference between kicking someone in the chest and having a player move her body into a raised foot. You are acting like she kung fu kicked her. She didn't, not even remotely. Van Der Gragt is 100% going for the ball and Morgan decides to make sure she contacts her. Loads of players do it these days, lets not pretend it doesn't happen.

It doesn't matter that she's going for the ball. That's completely irrelevant in deciding what is and isn't a foul. If I'm going for the ball and someone pokes it away and I kick them I can't say it isn't a foul because I was trying to kick the ball. It doesn't matter.

This is a blazing hot take on this incident. I mean I agree with what you're saying generally but the defender didn't clear the ball here and Morgan was trying to play it until she realized a foot was coming at her chest/head. Are you actually saying she's cheated here? Because I just don't see that.
The team has had form for gamesmanship. They're clearly coached for it. It's a shame because they have the native talent, I think, to win without it (and the stimulants I strongly suspect that are being used .... )

I agree, she hurled herself into the contact. Looking for a penalty. Very cynical high level of gamesmanship. Coaches have learned a lot from the pro men's game.

Not disagreeing with that though. By the rubbish laws of the game its a foul.

Look at it this way (and to be fair this is assumption but...)

Van Der Gragt is 100% concerned with getting the ball right? That's all she wants, no foul, no intention of hurting anyone, she wants to get a touch on that ball.

Morgan is not 100% concerned about getting the ball. She cant do anything with it, she is more concerned about creating contact, she wants that foul, she wants that penalty so she plays for it.

Does that not seem a bit flawed top you? One is actively trying to play the game, the other is trying to gain an advantage any way she can and that is the one who gets the reward? And it happens week in, week out.
