Frustrating thing for me was how negative they were particularly first half, and were there for the taking. Disappointed we didn't take all three points, overall a few positives to take though.

I like to look at opponents fans forum after we play them just to see their take on us. Wolves fans were very complimentary in fairness, with the general consensus being that we're the best of the rest, with a lot believing that we will mount a genuine challenge to the top 6 this season.

The majority accepted that we were the better team and that they were somewhat fortunate to come away with a point. Most saw it as a reality check whilst accepting they won't be playing such good opposition every week.

Wolves have had a lot of press coverage, most of it extremely positive, leading up to the season opener, and I half expected to find an improper arrogance amongst them. But no, just an excitement amongst the fans to be back in the top flight, mixed with a sudden realisation that they aren't going to have things their own way like they did for most of last year. Some of them even questioned the sending off, which is something I haven't seen outside of Evertonians.

Initial instinct is that Wolves may be a welcome addition to the Premier League.

Agree.

I was based in Brentford for 10 years so saw them more than my beloved Everton. One season they had a half crack at promotion to the Prem, and we were lovin' it though the team really lacked ground, stature, financing, youth etc to really be serious about surviving there. But I remember watching Watford and Boro in the same period leading up to and during the play-offs - all their fans - and thinking Watford would go up and be safe. Powerful and quick up front, tried to move the ball quickly, if not water tight at the back.

Wolves remind me of them a lot. Getting their first win will be important for confidence, but Huddersfield have shown what can be done with a good start. And Leicester / Burnley (and us, under Moyes / 1st season Martinez) what can be done with a gritty, well-organised squad with some quality.

I thought we were largely very good.
Clear that the boys have taken to Silva's methods as the levels of committment, desire and work rate were evident. There was a real spirit there too. The team actually looked like they like each other for a change.

I thought if we had remained as eleven men, we would have won comfortably. Superb opening 25 minutes of second half; I think we controlled the game largely but a couple of mistakes killed us.

I thought Wolves were pony to be honest. Take Neves out and they dont look like a team capable of finishing higher than 14th or so. I think there defence was dreadful and I think they will genuinely struggle for top 12.

So much so for this 'high line'

We’ll know a little bit more about the “high line” with Zouma and/or Mina playing this week.
During the game the American broadcasters were saying Marco was yelling at the CB’s to move forward and hold their line more.

It's for sure higher than last season anyway.

And our average positions would have been altered being a man down too you'd imagine. More space to cover with less bodies.

Interesting that.

With a bit more pace, we'll probably play a 'higher' line than normal but you say high line to some people and they assume the line starts on the halfway line ala AVB's Chelsea.
