He wanted Tom Cleverley this time last year

I’m just sayin’ is all :pint2:
Yeah but from all accounts Cleverly played well for them, well apart from that pen at Goodison of course haha. Maybe he had a role and realised Cleaverly can play it, maybe he has eyes on Carvalho for a specific reason

Nothing personally against him, but I just don't think we need him

Going for Loftus-Cheek and pairing him up with Gana in the midfield would be a better idea IMO

Still, if he signs then he'll have my support

Love myself a defensive midfielder me

Sorry, Its hard to buy the argument from someone that a player "isnt the type to cover a lot of ground so dont criticize him for that", and who then says "he covered the most ground of everybody according to stats, and also had a really high top speed".

You have just opposed yourself. I agree that his strengths seem to be clearly smart positioning and good calm ball distribution, but yeah, hes lazy.

I will say that in the Iran game it was fascinating watching their striker man mark Willy when they didn't have the ball. I mentioned it during the match. Jog a few steps then walk a few steps and then for fun walk a few more steps. I mean like the easiest man marking job ever.

That said it did neutralize any chance of that guy being useful on the counter. Obviously a team like Iran knew they would be pinned back most of the game, so I did find it interesting that they felt it important enough to eliminate Willy from the attack.

There was one moment when it looked like an Iranian guy was gonna get free on the left in the second half. The fella looked like he might cause a problem...he was sprinting in full pomp. Big Willy took the right angle and snuffed it out.

I definitely do not think he is right for us or the Premier League in general, but there is a reason why some look at him as a class footballer. He will do well in Italy.
