Torn.
On one hand he takes great positions so he doesn't need to move, therefore not leaving space behind him.
On the other hand does F all when the ball's already got behind him.

Of course he was up against the best midfield on the planet so should probably wait and see how he does in other matches. I just really see PL being too quick for him. Visions of Vardy sprinting past him chasing a long punt and Goodison jeering him.

I'm looking to start a walking football team , anyone fancy joining me and Big Willy ?

Does he talk a lot? Assertive with teammates?
The key to failing to track your man and arriving 2 yards behind as he slots is telling everyone else, clearly and loudly, what they did wrong.
Speaking from (Sunday league) experience.

Jk of course, no idea if this guy is any good but he seems to deny space in front of a back 4 pretty well, which can be more important than people realise. What they do clock is people haring round getting in attacker's faces constantly.
Recent example: Gareth Barry.

Mate we need someone better than all the midfielders we have.

I agree but its clear as day funds are limited this summer and Schnerderlin/Gana have big chances of being in the starting 11 so any upgrade in midfield in terms of options off the bench/to rotate on a free is welcome for me anyway.

The only benefit I can think of is selling Schneiderlin for 20m and signing Williams for free. They are too identical the only exception is Williams ibeing physically tougher to get past and doesn’t defend parellel with centerback.

Slight upgrade tho but terrible for a team relying on counter attack. He simply doesn’t win the ball enough to make this style effective.

He doesn't look the quickest but I would assume Silva has a plan for how to play him in the premier league. He knows both the player and the league. It's not like he's going to sign him and go 'he's not what I had hoped for at all'.

The problem with being so immobile regardless of the level you're playing at is that the better players will pass round you. As for denying space, we'll yeah as he takes up so much himself not a lot left for others.
So for that reason I'm out
