Will the new BPL TV rights deal finally allow Everton to progress ?

Yep, and that is relevant to us as Moyes has shown he's very capable of getting players from other countries in to make a difference.

I'm also not sure i buy the idea that wages will increase further. Wages increased in the PL but they also increased Europe wide during the same period. As you mentioned unless other countries experience a similar financial windfall (which i doubt) then there won't be a real need for wages to increase so massively, because the majority of talent arrives from outside the UK anyway.

The PL must eye jealously the control the Bundesliga has on wages as a proportion of revenue. The Bundesliga had a whopping overall £154M profit last year; its top clubs hardly make a dent in the top 100 list of top wage payers in world team sport.

Note to commentors: there are other leagues than the Premier League. More money for PL teams means that they can buy players for more money from other leagues that didn't benefit from this. The more distance between EFC and, for example, Club Brugge, the better position we are in for buying players.

1. Club Brugge knows this and will hold out for the higher price or find other PL clubs to drive the price up.

2. Every time there is a landmark deal in one league, the others follow suit.

Everton need separation from Newcastle, Villa etc. Or more accurately, to close the gap with the top 5-6 in the PL.

I know that was snarky, but the point of inflation only works if there are no teams outside of the Premier League.

Yeah cos these overseas Club totally wont be aware of the new deal, infact Agents all over the World totally wont even know that Clubs have more money to pay their clients.

The Sky deal increase will be swiftly followed by the overseas rights deal increase, the average a PL club is expected to increase it's revenue by is £25M p.a. from next season onwards.

The PL needs to cartel at this point & stop this incremental cash flowing straight into players & slimey agents pockets, they should collectively "hold their nerve" & set either an informal or foramlised wage cap.

EFC should imo, use the incremental cash to leverage borrowings to fund a stadium solution.

So the answer to your question OP, is a massive YES, if it's used with the long term future of the club in mind.

Won't make a huge difference to be honest - just means more inflation in the game - history tells us that

Financial fair play already biting - may make things a little easier in that regard.

With no one controlling the fees and salaries clubs pay out, this money will evaporate. Clubs are competitive and can't help themselves. If no outside force is governing their spending, they will spend it all.

My initial reaction was that wages and transfer fees will rise and therefore nothing will change on the footballing front.

I still think that is true, but as revenue & profits rise, infrastructure and other costs will be lower on a relative basis. For example, the cost of upgrading a stand at Goodison won't change, but we'll have more money to fund it with.

The OP answers his own question alluding to the point everyone in the EPL benefits.

The differential with the continent just allows the short termism of them producing better players and EPL clubs buying them to continue.

They'll continue tw@tting our clubs in europe and the England team will struggle to find 11 players - but who gives one.

When the Chelsea, Utd, City, RS clubs etc get bored they'll do their own tv deals and fck the likes of us right off.
