Why so negative?

Starting a thread like this after we scrape a point against Hull probably isn't the smartest time to be honest. It's not rocket science why were all a bit pissed off. We're fairly rubbish and have been for 2 and a half seasons now.

Patience is required but we urgently need players

A couple of years ago, I though we were moving to a Tesco car park in Kirby. We also had pre-seasons when we would sell Arteta on deadline day only to bring in Staq and Drenthe on loan.

Compared to then, things feel great. Doesn't feel like there is much to worry about regarding Everton at the moment.

Am I too concerned about the new ground? no, I'm hearing all the right noises. Compared to where we have been, its very positive.

Can we compete financially for decent players? yes. Tonight Neville said Everton couldn't finish higher than 7th because we can't compete financially with the team above us. I disagree with this.

Spurs matched out very decent offer for Sissoko, so he moved to the Champions League Club. But the move didn't collapse because we did't have the funds.

Moshiri told Jim White that we matched Chelsea's bid for Koulibaly. If that's true, the bid would have been around the £40 million mark. If that deal would have gone through, it wouldn't have just broken our transfer record, but Tottenham and Liverpool's as well. Maybe Moshiri was fibbing, can't be ruled out. But if Moshiri is being truthful, we can compete financially with some of the teams above us. That's unchartered territory for the post 1995 Premier League.

How do I feel about our newish manager? Happy. We aren't playing great football but when the results arn't going well you go back to basics. If we finish 7th this season, I consider that an improvement on two consecutive 11th placed finishes. I would rather win playing industrial, than lose playing it fancy. I would also hope that by finishing 7th we would have more credibility when trying to attract our top targets in the summer.

But as a team, we have won more points from losing positions than any other team in the league. The team that was destroyed by Sunderland and Leicester in April/ May was shell shocked. So I'm prepared to give Koeman credit for installing some tenacity and spirit. That had gone under Martinez.

At the halfway point we are 7th and we are entering a transfer window were we are supposed to have some decent money to spend.

Compared to how things have been in years gone by, things are positive.

Not really true though. I have read threads when we have won away - I don`t read them when we are home - according to some, we are completely crap until we score the winner - I`m sorry if you disagree, but it is incredibly embarrassing - my mates in "real" life would not react in the same way that many on here do.

The moment - that seems to be the theme. The moment we let in a goal is bad - the moment we are not pressing is bad, the moment a human being makes a mistake is bad. "The moment". When we score or win , we are world beaters.

Welcome to the modern world mate where everything is instant. Coffee, information and success. Everyone wants it now.

Having said that, most Blues have, and still are patient. But the patient ones are sat in the wings, waiting

.... with sore arses having been sat too long.

Nah don't find it embarassing to be honest. Most posts in a match thread are made heat of the moment and that's why they are animated.

I want us to be better. That's simply all I can say. When we play like we did tonight I get frustrated and when you look at tonight in the context of our last 24-30 months then it's no surprise there's restlessness.

Some people cope with this better than others. I struggle more than most to keep my emotions in check but recognise others are much calmer. So no I don't find it embarassing, it's just the way of the world.

Speaking of coffee, you had the other 2/3rds of your HobNobs yet?

On topic. Boooooooooo or Hurray.

We've just managed to escape with a point against the bottom of the table club, and you're wondering why we're so negative..?

We may be historically one of the most decorated clubs in the country, but the irony is that many living evertonians have never known anything but struggle, year after year.
But everyone knew this season was going to be rocky and one for rebuilding, at least everyone with half a brain did! We all knew it was a transitional season. The OTT reactions after every defeat or non victory is a joke now. To see some of them you'd be forgive for thinking that we'd been title contenders for the last few years, not the horrendous midtable garbage we actually have been for the last two and a half seasons (and only a little purple patch's each season prevented it from being relegation scraps).

Negativity in the face of change (and by that I mean ever since Moyes left and change was forced), is probably down to people who would rather have low expectations and be impressed, than to have high expectations and be disappointed.

That "transitional season" stuff again

What does that even mean?

That next season all will be well in our world?

Yay.....August roll on

It means exactly what it says mate. We've been shocking for the previous two seasons and that wasn't going to be fixed overnight. Did you just think Koeman (or any replacement for Martinez) was going to be able to come into the club and wave a magic wand to fix everything? This season is one for Koeman to size up the players who he wants/doesn't want and rebuild accordingly. These things take time, I know we live in an age were everyone wants everything RIGHT NOW but in the real world it isn't going to happen.

This board was and to be honest, still is, the place I come to read Everton stuff. Why has it become so toxic though?

I (and I`m sure there are others out there) am getting fed up of the negativity on here.

We, as Evertonians have been through some [Poor language removed] times, but we still love the club.

We are still one of the most successful teams in the world in terms of history and top flight football.

Criticism is part of the game, but the match threads in particular are an embarrassment.

Why is this?

COYB

I am 51 years old. I inherited supporting Everton from my late dad God rest him. I love Everton and always will but I fully reserve the right to moan for the following reason

We are terrified of Liverpool. Every derby is a nightmare as we kick and bludgeon our way to what we hope will be a draw.

I could hardly speak after the latest effort to conceal our terror by kicking them. I couldn't come on here. I simply emotionally checked out for my own good.

Stop the fear for fexake and we'll stop the moaning.
