Why is the prem so cack.

Lot's of teams are having mediocre seasons and there are a few in transition but it's still the strongest league imo. You've got 2 of the best club sides ever at the top and no real awful teams like in the past your Sunderlands, Huddersfield and Derby's who struggled to get into double figures.

It's not competitive- it's a script to collect cash from tv viewers. No amount of script writers can come up with something as entertaining as proper competitive sport. The rest is hype surrounding overvalued overseas playesr being good compared with British lads who would rather be playing computer games or knifing rival gangs.

Bring back cash strapped 70s 80s football please.

the original "top four" have fallen off a cliff big big time so the league looks right open now maybe this is how it should've been? (Obviously not with them lot going possibly unbeaten) but I think the modern PL fan myself included has gotten used to the top 4 being united/city/chelsea/spurs then add Liverpool and remove United or Arsenal etc but that's all changed they've all gotten considerably weaker, Possibly exciting times for new teams to make big moves in this league in the next couple of years.

Standard of footballer world wide has evened out (dropped?) both Manc clubs, Chels and to a lesser extent Arsenal could buy almost anyone but quality game changers like Ronaldo and Messi etc have stopped coming through. Monied clubs have lost the ability to raise their standards with the talent barrel being so empty hence solid outfits like Leicester, Wolves etc do well and the addition of a bit of pace and flair to a squad of grafters can see you clean up as per monkey island and Klopp.

Footy world wide is at it's lowest ebb even the production line of south american ball players has dried up I can hardly watch the game because the standard of "top" footballers is truly dire.

Ban football straight away it is an embarrassment

A question I’ve been asking recently is what would indicate a better, more competitive league? A title win which sees the champions accumulating 95 + points or a title win that Leicester got which saw them win the league with 81. Which of those indicates a more competitive/high quality league?

The fact is the league has been on a downward slide for a few years. There’s been maybe two or three title races in ten years, the rest of the time the eventual winner has just ran away with it and had it won by January.

Don’t know why people are that bothered though. Less strong teams means there’s more of a chance of us breaching the top 4. Are we really that far away from Leicester if we make a couple of decent signings and start a season with Carlo in charge? The longer united, arsenal etc are in the doldrums the better it is for us.

It's just the cumulative effect of Man City running out of gas after two titles, Chelsea being in rebuild mode, Spurs form dropping off a clip and Mourinho not doing much to help it, Man Utd continuing their post-Ferguson shambles with a bang average manager, Arsenal lacking the investment on the pitch they need.

Basically, all of the big teams are at a low point and it means anyone can beat them. They'll come back but it'll take a while.

Yeah, I don’t think points total is indicative to overall quality, whatever the quality of the League, the best teams will prevail. Points will be won whatever the quality. But the general standard of the league is the lowest it’s been, I think that could be said of the whole if Europe. The giants of Munich, Barca, Madrid, Juve, that hoover up all the talent, are all on the wain because the talent just isn’t there. The RS in work say the talent is there but they and City have it and with the money in the Prem, the smaller clubs are buying quality, making it more competitive. Tend to agree with that last bit as the ’quality’ seems to be average and ‘top quality’ is at a premium. 15-20 years ago, we could rattle numerous world class defenders. Stam, Maldini, Terry, Ferdinand, Cannavaro, Puyol, Vidic, Nesta, Lahm, Carvalho, Campbell, Alves. Now? VVD, Varane, Koulibali? Ramos and Pique are past it, grim times for quality. Midfield, Scholes, Keane, Zidane, Gerrard, Kaka, Iniesta, Xavi, Lampard, Mascherano, Makelele, Pirlo, Seedorf, Vieira. Now? I’m struggling to name 2 that stands out, De Bruyne then who?

The standard does appear to have slipped but then you look at all four semi-finalists in European competitions last season were English. Maybe football full stop is in one of the cyclical downturns?
