Who will finish 4th?

will be a case of who gets their defense sorted 1st

Can't see that being us. We need a right back and maybe two centre backs as Rojo still has a lot to prove. Liverpool look more likely but then again, can Rodgers organise a defence? Can Martinez? I don't think so.

It's going to be a long but exciting season. At least we have Di Maria to entertain us this time, last season was horrid. But saying that, he'll probably get injured soon now he's a United player, it's in our DNA.

Haven't got a clue who will finish fourth this season as the early form of the contenders has been utter dog turd.

No. But you were battered by Chelsea and got 1 point against Arsenal. You then went on to lose against the team bottom of the league, at home. So by that rationale, if we get battered by Chelsea, get a draw against Arsenal and BEAT Crystal Palace, does that make us a better team than Everton?

Do you see what I mean - football doesn't work like that. It never has. The team with the most points come end of May is how it's judged, when we've all played home & away. And I think we'll finish above Everton this season, JUST. And I think Liverpool will finish above us.

Despite the scoreline it didn't feel like Chelsea battered us mate, there were spells in the game when I felt we could get a result (although each spell was then followed by a player's brain fart).

This season has got 'mental' written all over it.

cant understand the rojo signing. Versatile but bang average . never a utd player

You've seen him play, what, 2 games in a United shirt AND at left back? He's a CB, he's only been played at LB because of Shaw's poor fitness. It's like you guys - Stones looks dodgy at RB but is a fine CB, am I right?

I am not saying Rojo is good or bad - but give the lad a chance, he was great against QPR - but they were bobbins. Let's see how Rojo does with a run in his natural centre back position before throwing him into the bin. He was poor today, but so was every other defender.

@Boss_Blue

Yep, it's going to be mental for sure!

1st will be between Chelsea and city and depends on which of them can keep their main striker fit

United - hopeless defending but improved midfield and lots of attacking threat. Being out of the league cup and Europe will give LVG a huge advantage to rest players and work on defensive defensive solidity. 3rd especially if they buy a decent RB & CB in Jan.

Arsenal, lacking a little bit of firepower and a quality defensive midfielder. Their backline is good when it is fit but this is Arsenal so injuries are likely and they only have 6 defenders. Their quality will be too good for lower teams but will suffer against the bigger teams especially away from home. 4th place specialists and think that will be where they end up unless they shore up their weaknesses during January but Wenger seems too stubborn.

Spurs - still very toothless and taking time for Pochettino to organise them. Think he'll concentrate on the league and ignore the Europa and domestic cups so guess they will get 5th.

Liverpool - despite spending lots don't seem to have fixed their defence and midfield will be a problem given the number of games as Gerrard/Lucas don't look fit enough. Their fans seem to have unrealistic targets for this season so there could be a lot of pressure if they continue to struggle. 6th or 7th depending on how far they get in CL

Everton - after many years of scraping for goals we now seem to be scoring for fun but cannot keep them out the other end. Think we will sort it out but I'm expecting a focus on the Europa and the domestic cups to win some silverware so expect the league will suffer. 6th or 7th depending on how far we go in EL/cups.

Wouldn't surprise me if another team sneaked into the top 7 either. Leicester are currently looking great and Villa solid defensively - if they can get Benteke back fit they could do well.

TL - DR , Arsenal will get 4th as usual.

Good post mate, enjoyed that.

We have a team that just missed out on 4th last year, and improved the squad this season. Martinez just has to fine tune the defence and we'll be fine, fingers crossed.;)

The worrying thing for Everton is, last season you played well and were a joy to watch yet still could only finish 5th, and seven points behind 4th placed Arsenal. You didn't have European distractions either.

Now, you've got the hassle of Europa PLUS your defence is extremely suspect when last season it was pretty good if I remember correctly? Some callers on 606 tonight (Everton fans) think that Martinez is finally dismantling Moyes' solid Everton defence with his own ideas, which is why you are leaking goals for fun.

I'd say 4th is a HUGE ask for Everton this season.
