Oviedo seems to be injured consistently now. I think Baines / Garbutt next season with Galloway competing with Mori at LCB.

On the right Coleman is undisputed first choice and then Jagielka helping bring on the other centre backs and then eventually replaced by Stones/Browning.

I know Jags is playing LCB now but i imagine he wont play every game soon so its great succession planning on our part to have 4 young centre backs on the books with first team experience.

As for Coleman cover, we have so many defenders now that id say Browning is capable and Holgate will come through there followed by Kenny.

Our defence for the next decade (if one of these guys can come through behind Coleman) looks....phenomenal.

I might be wrong, but can't Oviedo play right back?

Browning has done well, but we can't be having him as a right back (if Coleman is out) against teams looking to park the bus at Goodison. Maybe we'll see Lennon there in that situation. Who knows, but Oviedo could certainly be useful for us in that respect. Also, Galloway's future lies in the centre.

Realistically there won't be many changes in January, and that's probably the best way to go about it.

McGeady should go as there's no point whatsoever in keeping him around and we could fetch a fee for him. Hibbert is also pointless but Martinez won't release him in January, he'll be let go in the summer surely after the way our young defenders have been performing. Pienaar and Osman might still play a role later on in the season, but one of the two really should leave in the summer as well.

We should look to bring in the creative player we didn't earlier, especially if we're in a decent position to challenge for a top 4 place. That's all I am expecting with regards to players coming in.

We'll probably stick with Howard until the end of the season, as we all know Martinez isn't a big fan of the January window for such critical business. Doubt there will be many quality goalkeepers available in January anyway.

I don't think there will be a big cull until next summer, could be a major revamp of the squad next season, a few new comers and some current players heading for the exit.
Lots of talk about Breel Embolo from Basel the last few days, would be a good start.

I think now we will need to spend big on a keeper whoever they are...so either Jan or end of the season we will pay over the odds for someones first choice.

Is the MLS window in Jan also or when could they make a move for Howard?

Where has Embolo been linked? Major links with him at the end of the window...would be a coup to sign him and alternate with Lukaku although he could slot into attacking midfield as well.

A few at the game on Sunday said Martinez scouted him against Lech Poznan last week

Would be a fantastic signing, only 19 in feb and will have already played 50+ games by then.

Been highly rated for a while now and would be a great backup to Lukaku. Cant see him being cheap though, £15-20mil...

The MLS preseason window is mid February to mid May, but I believe they can still sign deals in January. The players just can't officially move until the window starts.

I think soon we will have to start overpaying anyway because the standard of players we are seeing in a lot of positions is so high that new signings will need to be one of the best players at their current club.

Yeah agreed, teams more reluctant to sell half way through a season though. There's less time to get people in and the overpaying has a knock on effect, with teams knowing you're desperate to replace one of your best players.

McGeady will be shipped out if poss in Jan.

Rest of the squad will probably stay the same, as it should, depending on injuries. Would be nice to see a playmaker but can't see it myself.

Don't forget Geraint Jones. Looks like a tidy player

its the same nonsense from the summer window. teams actually need to be interested. why on earth would any one pay for hibbo, osman, etc? Their contracts are running out anyway. There's no reason to sell besic at all, peinaar is always hurt and getting old (Can't see us getting anything for him). Only player that is expendable mid season AND we'd get any money for is mcgeady
