Who should play behind Jelavic this season ?

I think the beauty is that we now have 5 players who can play in the three advanced midfield positions and we can be far more fluid, with those players playing AM, LM & RM continually interchanging with each other as the game develops.

Would like to Naismith there for the linkups with Jeli, however I'd be interested to see Barkley make a few cup starts and a few sub appearances

Osman for me, the rest are ****e, apart from Vic but he's not an attacking midfielder.

Oh and Pienaar obvz but he has to be on the left

From what little i saw against Motherwell and Blackpool 1st half then it as to be Naismith for me. Already as a great understanding with Jelavic and was also linking up very well with Pienaar aswell. He works his bollox off and as great awareness of whats going on around him and where people are and technically he's sound and his movement is good aswell so he seems suited to that role IMO.

But to me, we lack someone with quality and pace down the right of midfield to give us something different!. Coleman did ok saturday and as done ok all pre-season but he still as consistancy problems and im not sure he's the answer out there atm?!.
And we all know Osman is better centrally so he's a no go for right midfield for me.

And tbh i wouldnt want to see Naismith pushed out to the right so we can use Felli in behind Jelavic either as i think Felli plays better box to box with Gibbo at the side of him sitting, being the deep lying playmaker that gets are passing game going.

Watching the Blackpool game and we lacked what they had, someone out wide that wanted the ball and was direct and wanted to go at the FB everytime, Tom Ince!. Played well on saturday and looks like he's going to be a player, had a very good season last time out and another season in the championship wont do him any harm and im sure prem clubs will come calling next year, IF Blackpool havent made it back up?!.

I agree, but I think Naismith looked like he was seriously lacking in fitness, was I the only one who thought he looked absolutely shagged whenever the camera zoomed in on him? You're right though, his and Jelavic's understanding still seems to be apparent so it would be nice if he could make that position his own. But as said above, him, Osman and Pienaar would all be effective in that position.

To be fair to him mate these pre-season games are his first for something like 6/7 months cos he was out with a ruptured anterior (sp) cruciate ligament injury before signing for us, but even though he's lacking fitness, he was still prepared to put in a shift!.

I like the look of him, neat and tidy player, good movement and will link up with the players well and he grafts, cant ask for more really?!!

I think we will start the season with felaini there. Naismith has been out a long time and will be eased in.. Barkley is not quite ready yet either and I expect him coming off the bench probably on the RW initially replacing Osman who I'm sure will start the season on the RW. Rodwell will start along side Gibson in a 4-2-3-1/4-5-1 set up.

All IMO off course.... And 4-4-2??? Er no thanks outdated formation that doesn't work anymore even if u have 2 good strikers.. Which incidentally we don't have!!

People say Ossie is good at CAM, but hes more effective at right mid, but Naismith should play at cam. Ossie and Naismith are versatile in midfield and can both play cam, cm, rm and possibly lm. No problem really, but felli and gibbo in cm

I know mate, my point was he would have to seriously improve his fitness before he gets a run in the side. He was definitely more than willing to run his knackers off.
