No, because he stands up and is counted. In the depths of the 14/15 Christmas he was getting motm quite a few times. Not one of his team mates was in form yet he kept his level. City first leg of the league cup semi, in a big game he was the star man on both sides. He came up with some great challenges, calm in possession and suddenly everyone started feeding off that and also playing well (classic that he then got injured for the second leg). I don't know any other player in the squad who can individually raise their performance like this and those of the players around them. Lukaku in the cup v Chelsea maybe the only other time.

No one on that list. Would have gone for Seamus but don't know when he'll be back or how he'll be when he gets back playing. We might have to bring someone in. Schneiderlin is a good shout but he hasn't been here long enough for me to make up my mind if he is captain material. Good player though.

At our best under Moyes we had a team of captains, probably far less talented than the current side but capable of better league positions through their application. Neville, Carsley, Cahill, Arteta, Ferguson, Martyn. You could have any of them leading you out. Now there's barely any good candidates.

I've noticed Ross being more vocal recently, giving both barrels to those he thinks aren't putting in the required effort (he was roaring at Holgate on Saturday after he made a mess on the right). I think the responsibility would do him a world of good and I know what it would mean to a born blue to be captain of the club.
