Who came out the season with any credit?

O'Brien gets away with murder on here it's wild. He's been absolutely shocking in virtually every single game he's played but it's like everybody's scared to say it. I genuinely sympathise with him for having to play out of position but we shouldn't shay away from saying his performances have been woefully inadequate.
Well playing out of his preferred (i.e. most suited) position does earn him a bit of leeway IMO. Most people here understand that he just shouldnt be playing RB at this point.

It just reinforces the poor performance of a manager stuck in his ways and not seeing what’s in front of him, or denying it.
Doing nothing about it in January and not trying to integrate a Scottish international in the role throughout the season.

I still believe him seeing Keano dominate Barry in training convinced him not to play O’Brien at CB.

The man is a joke.

Yes, some of us understood it a lot earlier than others. What i'm talking about is a lot more than giving him a bit of leeway, there's people saying he's someone who comes out of the season with credit despite him quite clearly being one of the worst actual performers, it's a bit mad. Like I said, i'm not trying to encourage a pile on, I just find it really odd that there's total reluctance to lay any blame at his door at all for repeated poor performance - he's not the first player to play out of position and he won't be the last, but he's the only one I've ever seen get this level of acceptance.

Garner, Pickford are the only real ones to come out with credit IMO.

KDH, I think did too really but he does float in and out of games, when he's on it he is vital to how we play - then when he's not on it he tends to pop up with something.

- Garner came on massively this season
- Dewsbury-Hall has raised the base level of this team considerably, has great quality and is a leader
- Branthwaite, when fit, showed he's arguably our best player
- Pickford is still quality

They'd be the big ones for me.
Did he and is he, though? We ended up exactly where we were the past two seasons. Don't get me wrong I like KDH and I think he's played well but has he raised any levels here, I'm not so sure.

Points on the board may not be all that different but he's night and day with Doucoure. I liked Doucoure, he was limited but effective, but Dewsbury-Hall is an upgrade. We were also missing him for a good chunk of games and it showed.

He raised it in terms of on the ball quality.

KDH and Garner, I don't think Pickford covered himself in glory these past few weeks but he's got a gang of tugboats in front of him so hard to blame him too much
Even if Pickford, like all keepers, has "crazy" moments, he saved us many times, as in previous seasons. He is, truth be told, our only top-class player.
