  • Everton's two heaviest Premier League Merseyside derby defeats have both been under Roberto Martinez and both at Anfield (4-0 in January 2014)

This was a classic under Roberto...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35675847

West Ham recovered from two goals down to win a Premier League game for the first time since their 5-4 win over Bradford City in February 2000.

The victory, only West Ham's second in their past 10 away matches, sees Slaven Bilic's side leapfrog Manchester United, who play on Sunday, into fifth in the table.

Scoring three goals in the last 12 minutes to snatch victory from looming defeat is no mean feat - even against 10 men.

Everton have now lost three of their past four league games at Goodison and stay 11th.

Recent home defeats by Swansea and West Brom meant the pressure was on Everton to record a home victory, and Roberto Martinez's side started very well.

If Lukaku had slotted the penalty that day I reckon Everton history over the last year and a half would have been very different.

Especially if he had not missed another penalty at Wembley.

Well, that us only of any relevance if one subscribes to the theory that Sky invented football in 1992.

Plenty of us on here witnessed an even bigger debacle at home to the buggers circa 1982.

0-5.

Oh....and Howard Kendall was our manager :)

And we once lost 5-0 at Anfield under Harry Catterick ;)

So even our best ever two managers have been humiliated in derbies.

Both of them are too ideologically-narrow and stubborn to see faults in their footballings beliefs, which is why neither of them will ever learn, and therefore cheese on toast is the clear winner.

Bobby's positivity and point-blank refusal to criticize the players felt like a breath of fresh air for the first twelve months, after years of Moyes talking about glass ceilings, but by the end was massively infuriating and downright condescending towards the supporters. Don't get me wrong, the 13/14 season was the best football I've seen at Goodison, but if we'd given him enough time, he'd have had us in a relegation fight that I couldn't see us winning.

That said, I was disappointed by Big Sam's set-up and team selection for both the Bournemouth and West Brom games. Of course, I can understand the defensive mind-set vs Chelsea and Liverpool, but feel like both B'mouth and WBA were both there for the taking really. Obviously he can only do so much with the cards that he has been dealt, but attitude towards big games in the coming months will act as a clear indicator as to whether his tenure will be seen as a short-term marriage of convenience, with the sole goal of stabilising a team that was previously in free-fall, or whether he'll be given an extended period of time in order to build something better than what we currently have - It's up to him really..

It was Martinez that started this rot that Koeman made worse, which Sam now has to fix, its not like Sam has picked up a decent team playing well, he picked up a digusting mess and turned it into a team that no longer looks like going down

Fair point but it applies in the last 25 years then.

Some are making out like boring, whimpering defeats are an Allardyce thing when the reality is quite different. Under Roberto Martinez we went to Anfield and allowed them to have 37 shots to our 3, whilst us not getting a single shot on target. That is an absolute disgrace and was one of the many embarrassments we suffered under him.

Big Sam of course!

You can listen to Martinez talk, rewind and repeat it 20 times and you still won’t understand what he’s trying to mean. I wonder how he can put the instruction straight and clear to the whole team.

With Sam, he knows what he is talking about, whether or not he can accomplish is another issue.

As I stated in my match comment not just a question of the managers but our whole playing squad was shown to be just not good enough.

In fact can anyone point to any of our players and describe them as class??
