I think that now the run of fixtures has slowed Carlo has a chance to work with the players, I’m intrigued to see if anything changes, regardless of any incomings.

After the next 4 supposedly winnable games .we have a 2 week break.
then we play Arsenal away on a Sunday after they play in Greece on the Thursday night.
Might be to our advantage

The league is so tight this year. 6 points off 5th with 16 games to go. Also 6 points off 17th.

I think 14th would be the very lowest finish and I can't see that happening at all. I think 5th is possible but it would need a pretty good run. Reckon about 60-65 points would be needed for 5th. That would probably need about 2 ppg over the last 16 games. That would need a big improvement.

So I reckon 5th to 17th is probably possible.

I know I'm sitting on the fence a bit but I'd expect somewhere between 7th and 12th being the most realistic. 7th could be a Europa League spot so defo something to aim for.

We won’t get anymore than 55 points, so 8th maximum. That’s 27 pts from remaining 16 fixtures. If we’d had that points return from our first 16 games we’d be well in the mix (4th place)
Spot on - and the reason we were right o bin Marco. Another 'kin pretender. OUr own low-rent version of Andre Villas Boas.

I feel that with a CB an a proper CM incoming we can still finish 4th...probably 8th...

Optimistic I know but if we are going to dream let's dream big.

Next 2 games are key for really. Win them both then we will be up there and confident as well. Even a draw and win isn’t bad. Just keep the points rolling. Are we not second in the form table or something since silva was sacked.

The more I look at those fixtures, the more I believe we could even get 4th. It’s unlikely, but still possible. I don’t think it will need a lot of points either – possibly less than 65 pint swill get you CL this season.

I, in all honesty, think we will beat Liverpool at Goodison. Part of that is the dreamer in me, but I have a feeling it will be us that screws up their “invincibles” season.

We have four difficult games away (Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Wolves), Of those teams, two of them have very inexperienced managers – they are not the formidable opposition they once were. Of our difficult home games – Man Utd (4-0 last season), Liverpool – A Derby, Leicester – couldn’t beat us in 90 minutes in the Carabao cup.

I see no reason why we shouldn’t win the following home games:-

Newcastle
Crystal Palace
Southampton
Aston Villa
Bournemouth

15 points

Nor do I see any reason why we shouldn’t win the following away games:-

West Ham
Norwch

6 points

Two very winnable games are:-

Arsenal (A)
Man Utd (H)

6 points

Drawing with the following games:-

Watford(A)
Chelsea(A)
Sheff Utd(A)
Leicester(H)

4 points

The crunch games will be Liverpool (H) – I believe it is our destiny to beat them this season – which would put us on 62 points. This leaves Tottenham and Wolves away. Decent managers, so hard games. We might lose those, but not a certainty – especially if both are still in the CL/Europa league.

Obviously it won’t all pan out exactly like that, but I believe there are points to be had. We will lose when we should have won, but that works the other way around too. The best managers are always near the top of the league – So Ancelotti is a major player here. He has already brought consistency in the league. Three wins against teams that we should be beating, and, despite being poor, a 2-1 loss at the home of the champions.

We also have something else in our favour this season – Liverpool. They are beating everyone. They will be taking points from the teams above us. It will keep them within touching distance. And as mentioned earlier – I just don’t think they will get anything from us at Goodison.

I can dream haha

Actually quite looking forward to the upcoming 'break'. We came out last February looking sharper, hopefully we see the same effect again.

Anyone heard about the Europa League 2 starting from 2021?

Wonder if that will go to 7th place with 5/6th still being Europa League (1)?

From the looks of it thats exactly what happens. Functionally 7th place goes to EL2 now, instead of EL. Of course they say its 6th, with the 5th and cup winner(in seasons where its not a top 6 club) going to EL. Dilutes 7th and makes finishing in the top 5-6 that much more important, and difficult.

People who are looking at higher than 7th haven't taken in to account the Everton effect that when it seems rosiest is when we perform to our most diabolical worst.

I have hope but I ain't rising to the bait to put it down. I'm on a game by game basis from now on.

The result tomorrow is going to be huge on people's predictions here.

Win, and there will be lots predicting a Europa league finish.

Lose, and it will be somewhere between 10th and 17th.

Over to you Everton.
