Wrong David, his task is the same as Koemans and Sams, to get us competing again, if we still have the same squad on the 9th August, then we have failed, im confident Marcel wont allow that to happen.

He wont be able to punt them all in 1 window, but its about signing quality in key areas.

He's got to re-learn these donkeys how to play football again. That cant be done with some of them, because they're either not capable of it or are unwilling to do it. We'll have to wait until he can get shut of them. Neither Koeman nor Allardyce were bothered with the detail and painstaking application of coaching that would bring about competitive but expansive football. We agree on the rebuilding but disagree with what we should expect in the meantime.

But surely we both agree that Silva is a "better" manager than Koeman and Sam? So surely we should demand that he achieves the same sort of league standard? Im not expecting a CL push, not currently of course, due to the issues in the squad we currently have, but I do expect us to retain our league placing, its the least I expect.

Yes we do agree on that, and it's PRECISELY because he is a better manager that he'll do things properly and make sure we evolve as a group of players that will be formidable in coming seasons. That will probably necessitate a bit of experimentation and that can cost points that get you top7.

Within reason, I am not that arsed really.

The foundations have, (I hope), been laid with Silva and Brands. There is not a chance they have not conversed these last 6 months, so all I expect to see is progression in actual football, if that translates to a boss finish, sound. If it doesnt, but the signings start making some sense, then sound also.

A Pot would be pretty mind.

Silva needs to make sure that we can play possession football, not as an end in itself, but as a preparatory condition for playing games in which the opposition is pressed high in their own half. I expect that will take time.

I do not see how you can say Silva is as good a manager as Allerdyce. I do not like his style, but Sam is an accomplished coach.
