bingoA number 8
A number 9
A number 10
A number 1
A number 5
In that order
With a number 8 in midfield it would bridge the gap between the midfield and attack and take some of the heat off young Ross.
I personally think thats our current biggest weakness, but with the signs that Valencia isnt utter pony I would be tempted to stick Ross in midfield versus Watford.
3-5-2
Interesting as just read on TW that koeman feels we need about 5 players so your original post is not far off what Koeman thinks
Valencia cannot be an answer i mean he can't get on a crap West Ham team but neither is Kone tbh
you may be right but valencia wasn't uber gash when he came on, he wasn't terribly good but he wasn't terribly bad today either. We def need more option up front.Interesting as just read on TW that koeman feels we need about 5 players so your original post is not far off what Koeman thinks

Just got back from the game...just talking to the lad next to me on what our biggest problems are and priorities in the up and coming transfer window.
For me it has to be in midfield as from what i saw today we are well short of quality especially attacking wise.
Others have looked at the CB situation and see issues and no useful back up for Rom there so if you were in charge what would you focus on ??
I wouldn't say Barry is overrated, but his time is definitely running short. Barkley has always looked better carrying the ball forward from deep, so I would tend to agree with you about giving him a run as a box-to-box CM. Mirallas showed today that he can do a better job as a 10 than he can as a winger, so I would play him there to facilitate moving Barkley.I'd still like to see Barkley given a chance alongside Gana before we give up on him. Think Barry is a bit overrated on here and Barkley isn't going to make it as an attacking midfielder.
I judge the lad on what I see, never really watched him at West Ham, but he came on today and made a difference, but we defo need another option uptop.
i agree mate - first time I could say he contributed to a game. Underwhelmed when he signed, seen nothing until today to change that opinion, but as you say, made a difference. Looked sharp and wanted the ball - might be something there - needs to do more to convince me, but I'll say encouraging from that cameo. We lack options up top.I judge the lad on what I see, never really watched him at West Ham, but he came on today and made a difference, but we defo need another option uptop.
