Last time we actually looked at other teams without an inferiority complex .When we sacked Joe Royle
29th May 1985. After the wall was pushed down at Heysel. We have never recovered from the European ban. The decay was slow at first, got worse then the [team] decay was stabilised because Moyes (not Kenwright) punched above his weight but the club was being ruined by Kenwrights antics, antics that continue to this day.Thatcherism, the permissive society, advent of rock and roll?
From an Everton perspective, what was the moment when the tide turned and things started going backwards?
For me,the pivotal moment was the first home game in Martinez’s second season when we were walloped at home by Chelsea. Everything seemed rosy up to that point. We entered the season on a wave of optimism after t performing so well the previous season . Then bang! Teams sussed us out, watching us pass, pass, pass in our own half.
Since then it’s been one way to the grave.
This is the best answer so far, but it pre dates a lot of the supporters todayso they dont get it, we had a FA cup winning side and failed to build on it, and Joe going and the reason behind it did cause us very long term damageWhen we sacked Joe Royle
We didn’t sack Joe, he walked out because Agent Johnson wouldn’t sanction a move for Tor Andre Flo, same thing as Howard walking out 4 years earlier because he wasn’t allowed to sign Dion DublinWhen we sacked Joe Royle

Peter Johnson, another who some give a free pass too.
The common denominator is the fans, who I do regularly call out for the misdemeanours they have made. You give a free pass to BK who makes Agent Johnson's misdemeanours look like a tiny blip in our history. For you, everyone is to blame except for the one common denominator throughout all these periods....... your hero!
As much as I think Kenwright is to blame I can’t disagree with any of thatMoshiri:
- Happily kept Kenwright on as a convenient source of critisism deflection.
- Little to no communication, and lies through his teeth whenever he does such as in that weird Jazz Bal interview.
- Has crippled the club due to financial mismanagement, now facing punshment.
- Involved the club with shady individuals such as Alisher Usmanov, who also meddled in our managerial appointments such as Benitez.
- Listens to advice from Kia Joorabchian and buys players without Managerial/DoF consent on huge contracts.
- Has oversaw the development of a championship level squad with nothing in common with the values of everton.
- Signed Alexander Iwobi because Arsenal.
But most importantly, he has oversaw the degredation of any connection between fans of the club and the club itself. Speak to any evertonian and they will all agree that we are a shadow of our former selves even from the Moyes team. He has allowed the Board to castigate the fans and the rift between them and us has never been greater.
Forget the stadium, THIS man is the biggest problem with Everton FC now.
Right the next protest March or town hall meeting has to have @StreetEndBlue as Agenda item 1!!!The rot set in with me as I bought my first season ticket in the summer of '95, have had one ever since, and we've won the square root of F all in that 28 year period.
I'm clearly a jinx!
mate kenwright had also done most of the things on that list before moshiri was even in the pictureAs much as I think Kenwright is to blame I can’t disagree with any of that
I know hence why I said I think Kenwright is to blame but couldn’t also disagree with what the poster saidmate kenwright had also done most of the things on that list before moshiri was even in the picture
