It may well be thriving - I don't really , " Do " , t'internet - , but it used to be POPULAR among the young'uns .

You said , " I must eat so many lemons . 'Cause I'm so bitter ."
I said , " I'd rather be with you're friends , mate . They are much fitter , ..."

Mark Zuckerberg, killed MySpace.

How come they're all brewstied , then ???

Serious qstn , btw . I'm cack at Computers / T'Internet , etc .

Google makes its money through advertising. It makes more than ITV does. Google also develops open source software and is diversifying into direct competition with Microsoft and other areas of computing.

Facebook has more users and views per day than Google but isn't making money or as large a profit in comparison to Google.

Facebook's value is based on potential future revenues and based on its market share of the internet. On a like for like basis - advert revenue per user, Facebook should be ahead as it has more users. But isn't.

sometimes I wish I could go back to a time where computers were still at a fundamental stage and it was all still basic and early days, none of what it's like today, I like to think I'm fairly competent when it comes to IT but I see things or jargon that scares me to a point or is just plain confusing.

I'm not a member of facebook, or tweeter or any of that crap, as I find it all rather trivial, for instance I don't need to tell a Mrs Smith in Swansea that i'll be having some microwave pasties in a second or two or plan to tidy up the attic later today. :dodgy:

About Google Wave

Have a look at some of what Google's doing these days.

Google Wave's the latest.

Its currently in invitation only pre-beta mode.

They're merging the lines between instant messaging, emails and online collaboration.

For project managers it could be huge. But also it could herald all sorts of new collaborative pieces of software for the workplace and other devices.

It could also go the way of Facebook and be a social networking site.

Its the flexibility that is most interesting.

The Microsoft collaborative software's called Microsoft Groove.
(soon to be turned to Microsoft SharePoint Workspace as part of Microsoft Office).

As with everything Microsoft it's very formal and very hard to make flexible. Whereas Google traditionally come from the other end, its always about flexibility and user tailor-ability.

Personally, I think Google will outdo Microsoft as Wave's being constantly redesigned and evolves at a much higher rate (it being open source).

Microsoft have their huge market share as their advantage, but Google's high rate of evolution will do for them what Google Chrome's done.

Its just far superior to the Microsoft product due to constant refinement.

it all just seems to go over my head at times, I was content back in the day when it was simplistic, come back from school, and have a game of block soccer on the binatone on a 26 inch black and white screen from Granada, not a care in the world.

it's getting more complex by the year, and as we're getting older all the time, it's makes it harder to understand, I think you need to work in the IT sector to make any progress with some of it, each to their own I suppose, I just miss the days when it was all still rather basic.

MySpace was eaten up by a more organised, sophisticated system called Facebook. Myspace was a mess, what happens when you allow people to design.

The fact that it gave breaks to such catastrophic singers (and I say that loosely, talking in a cockney accent is not singing) just shows the kind of low intelligence that was applied to it.

Good riddens I say.

and why the bloody need for social network pages anyway when you can come on here and say what you do, or what you're up to.

this is the just the tip of the iceberg, there are hundreds, thousands maybe of soccer forums like this, or of some variation, where supporters meet up and share their daily experiences, and talk about things from A-Z so I'm guessing 90 per cent of these network social things are perhaps non footy people, who just like to talk about purchasing a new toothbrush or finding some cobwebs in a corner of the bathroom.

the mrs goes on facebook to keep up with folks she worked with in germany that are all over the world, so it's good for them having their own group without the need for setting up a site of their own.

I went on the grandoldteam page though and she got some feed through the other day from the 'would you sleep with arteta' thread, with someone saying they'd let him mess their sheets, she was mortified that all her mates would see it & think it was her, I tried to explain that they cant see stuff that doesn't relate to them and their group (me thinks, but not arsed either way, just told her that:lol:) ) i did sign her up for the landon thing though and also his page, and put the kids pic up there that was taken with him, she gets tons of messages from the u.s. saying how lucky the kids are to have been in there and meet him.
