Neil, I don't think anyone can argue that Moyes hasn't done a good job, at least in regards to results. But since the summer he has been hopeless as manager. Clearly he can turn it around which is why he should remain as manager. But don't forget he's now one of the highest paid bosses in the league (after and before tax). So for that we can expect decent football and the belief that we'll finish the season somewhere near to the top 6 teams. That's not much, and it is not expecting more than we're entitled to expect.
Are we entitled though mate, ok hes paid a lot but has earned a lot too. I personally feel hes earned the money, i know we are all pissed of and the football this season has been dire, but perspective is needed also would you have taken 4 points of Arsenal, 5 of Villa in the top four after the first three games of the season.
Im not defending his decisons at all costs because i think in a lot of games hes made a pigs ear of the game in terms of decisons or lack of them. But he makes more good ones then bad as our position shows, we accept the good ones as granted but we linger on the bad ones and rub his nose in it. Yes he is culpable and rightly so, but it is important to look at the bigger picture i.e. past seasons, money available, potential in the squad, managers track record, other teams inconsistencey. So for me all in all our expectations have been built on his success wheather they are realistic or not is debatable, in terms of pound for pound we've been punching above our weight for many seasons now, the question to reflect upon is why, the answer i find to this question fuels my loayaly to Moyes, like i say im not blind i see the poor decisons, i see the impact, but on the weight of everything in terms of my decison making i have more trust and faith then doubht. Its easy to be an Evertonian when things are going well, but harder when things are not, i have noticed and seen a dicotomy in football vocabularly in the last few years from the term "supporter" to "fan" i very much see myself as a supporter, rather then say everything about my team or club is [Poor language removed] every second breath. Luckily my skills are honed well after the majority of my life time being marked by hoplessness by Everton, which i feel we are no where near to replicating in the long term, as i beleive Moyes is the man.
Ok we dont look like having the form to push on, but the ability is there in terms of the team and the manager, every season is uniuqe and it has to be said no one bar the top four and Villa have shown any great level of consistencey even arsenal are as wobbly as an Arry Rednkapp Jowel. Yes we are lucky to be 7th on current form but its better then another 13 in the leauge.
We could strike a formula all of a sudden and it could be lift of, who knows, its why we will all be watching on Sun. The potential in team was evident in the second half against Utd and if we can get close to that again im not worried.
Over to you Mr Moyes, you have one fan at least!
