There is no excuse for cheating... end of. Just play football and win without it.
Every team has players good enough to produce a goal, every team can beat anyone of the day, even the big boys v the minows can see the result go the other way through sheer hard work. Surely that's a better acheivement than jumping on the floor with no one near you and claiming a penalty you shouldn't have.

Hate to go all primary school on you but... CHEATING IS WRONG.

I think all major types of cheating should be dealt with by the use of red cards which if missed, can be issued post game by the FA, diving etc. I think minor offences like waving imaginary cards should be yellows.

I remember a few short decades ago in the 90's, punditry on MOTD highlighting a couple of dives that had happened by foreigners, and the outrage that it happened was everywhere the next day... in the papers, in the pubs, on TV, and I remember one of the pundits issued a warning that it would only be a matter of time before it was both commonplace and accepted due to the influx of foreigners.
Can't remember who it was, but he was of course shot down by the other pundits, who exclaimed that whilst the influx of foreginers may well lead to more diving, it will never be accepted by the British public.

I guess this poll shows how wrong they were, but of course its not just their biggoted view that its just foreigners doing it (although they may well have paved the way), plenty of English cheats as well.

I've never blamed foreigners for cheating, some of the biggest cheats in the game are British. Blaming foreigners for their actions is not only narrow-minded, but actually takes the blame away from the culprits and encourages them to do it more.

Early 90's mentality mate, they were the ones blamed, and to be fair at the time, it was the flair players from abroard that were mainly doing it, so not entirely without cause.
We had a good name in the sport back then, Ince when he moved to Inter for example, got taken down in the box in one of his first games, the ref called a dive, and the Italian press went nuts saying an Englishman wouldn't go down unless his legs were broken, biased ref etc....

Certainly havn't got that level of respect these days, we are just as bad as they are, in many cases worse, and its really sad to see so many people that don't really care, and can list various ways of cheating that are okay to them.
