I'd give him a respectful reception as a thanks for the goals, hard work and for the honesty.

At no point before this summer did he say he wanted to leave Everton, specifically. He always simply said he wanted CL one day and the media did the rest. That offended silly people with unhealthy emotional attachments to the club because we weren't in the CL, which of course is entirely their own problem and fully deserved. I hope he continues to annoy them in future by enjoying a successful career with trophies aplenty.
