Genuine question, I can't say I have followed the whole thing that closely, I just know that the stuff she talks about now is pretty dodgy and seems to be all she does these days.

The 'be kind' mob giving out death threats? That's not kind is it.

JK Rowling was raped in a changing room, hence her viewpoint. Giving men (regardless of how they 'identify') legal access to women's spaces increases the likelihood of further attacks.

Correct. The trouble is that it becomes a bit obsessive for some who search for reasons to be insulted and perceive nothing jokes, comments or genuine opinions to be:-
Misogynist
Anti LBGT+

They then cancel people like Rowling or destroy the careers of people like the man who wrote Father Ted. This gives the vile Farage's of this world good reason to attack. Be careful to what degree you are decent because attacking normal people for genuine non-aggressive views is aggressive in itself and weakens the argument.

As I said, genuine questions, I know nothing about her backstory or whatever and weirdly there doesn't seem to be a lot mentioning it online.

I do feel that it is a bit of a niche issue that seems to be getting a crazy amount of coverage comparatively though.

For all the vitriol she receives, her heart, head and money are in the right place - she started and funds a rape shelter in Scotland, as the only other one is ran by a trans woman who literally said women 'should get over it'.
