What is up with Dele Alli?

Been out for about 2 years with a groin strain.

Was on the Monday night football talking up his chances of getting back in the England squad - but that was 5 months ago and seemingly hasn’t kicked a ball since.

The guy is finished.

But but but, he must be worth a shot to see if he can get back to his levels.
This definitely wasn’t one of the worse signings we’ve ever made, especially when he defeated Palace on his own and single handedly saved us from guaranteed relegation.
That alone is worth another short term / pay as you play deal…….

I have no idea about his level of fitness but i suspect the one thing i will give dyche is if he isn't fit or even look like getting fit enough he won't be interested in signing him permanently.

I can't believe there are people out there who think he will ever play a minute of Premier League footy ever again

I can't believe why anyone 'out there' would make such a definitive statement like this about a situation that could quite reasonably go either way, other than - for some reason - to be able to say to the world 'I told you so' with a smug grin on your face and a gteat big big pat on your own back if it never happened.

If he does happen to play one minute for a PL side, shall we all vault you and tell you what a tit you look?

I’d tend to agree. To me, was a terrible signing at the time. The only reason I gave the club the benefit of the doubt was that I assumed they must have had the inside track on what had gone wrong at Spurs and were confident a new start would do the trick. As it is, that turned out not to be the case, it was a crazy, desperate, signing with no due diligence done. You can’t sit out two/three seasons and come back at the same level, even close. He’s an open dream, forget him. Let him concentrate on himself, it’s never going to happen at Everton.

The thing with Deli is you don’t lose your football ability it’s instilled into them, but you lose fitness and confidence. I really wanted it to work for him and find that golden nugget we needed. If there’s still a footballer in him then it’s the mental side he has to concur.

Yes, absolutely

The guy has been "injured" for the better part of two years. He's always about to come back and gets "injured".

I'm just reading the tea leaves here.

Because we are a good club, we are helping Dele get over his demons. Helping him as a human being.

But as a footballer, he's not going to play at the highest level again.

Mate, it's just an opinion, like hundreds and hundreds of opinions on here. Nobody actually wants the bloke to fail, but as others have said, the sheer length of time away from top class football indicates heavily that he won't make it back to that level, even if fully motivated, and we've not no clear evidence that he even has that. No need to get ratty over a reasonably expressed opinion, whether it eventually proves right or wrong.
