To have a dog in the fight means either:

1. You dont like asylum seekers full stop (the right)

Or

2. You believe that its wrong to have any concerns over asylum seekers and stating concerns makes you a racist hitler (the left)

I have no dog - I have sympathy for asylum seekers, I believe the majority are decent people seeking a better life.

However I also believe that there are just concerns for a native population on who and how many asylum seekers we allow into the country, what infrastructure/support is in place and in regards to this topic in general I do understand concerns when just last summer an asylum seeker tried blowing up a womans hospital in this very city.

Until people leave their respective echo chambers and acknowledge both sides have valid points we'll never get anywhere as a society. We're more polarised than ever before.
no dog???
you just proposed banning all single men living in certain countries from the UK

One thing this thread highlights is that there is no middle ground on topics like this, you’re either a peado sympathiser or you believe everyone should be allowed in, there can be no debate (not online anyway, imo). The government spews bilge so regularly on it as well just fans the flames. I believe the violence is wrong, full stop. Any protest loses all its credibility once that happens. I do, however, understand a communities upset at people being moved in to accommodation while they are struggling to cloth their kids, pay the energy bills etc especially in one of the poorest areas of the uk. You have all the ingredients for unrest, just a shame it’s reared it’s head in our city.

You’ve been here since 2011 so you know this is not acceptable. Enjoy the time off
Well crap. This is current affairs. I really should pay more attention.

A past penchant for defending right wing scummers: Post in thread 'Nick Clegg V Nigel Farage.' https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/nick-clegg-v-nigel-farage.65695/page-5#post-2573154

Something fishy about this one.
Parachute accounts, backups for fallen abuses. Obviously looking to get rumbled as well. How could near enough the same words and the exact same sentiment not be noticed. Weird and worrisome.

I guess the middle ground might be more policing as well as more services, concealing, education, and more community integration. That would go for asylum seekers and locals.
All that costs money and there'll always be people who object to money being spent on 'outsiders'.
I think it's reasonable to be concerned about a sudden large influx of people from a different culture.
The problem occurs when these people are somehow seen as lesser, or less deserving.
I wonder how many of those protesting have an Irish uncle or grandfather who left a failing economy dogged by civil unrest.
