What happened in 1914 and 1939 how did they deal with that

Makes me laugh when I hear Paul Barber, the Brighton chairman, say it will be "incredibly unjust if Liverpool are not awarded the title", I give him 1985-1990 when small clubs such as Oxford, Luton, Coventry and Wimbledon won trophies and were denied the chance of European football because of LFC,s behaviour at Hysel. I call it Karma.
The Brighton chairman says this knowing if that were to happen, the league would be seen as 'completed', and his own club would not then be in a relegation scrap, and be, therefore, safe. I would think the chairmen of the three clubs currently occupying the three relegation places will be already preparing massive litigation appeals should that scenario occur. The FA/EPL could not afford to fight the issue.
As you state, the clubs you mention all went into rapid decline and have not yet recovered. Perhaps TRS could offer them all a substantial compensation for loss of revenue, plus a generous 'hardship' bonus.

if they declare the season null and void would liverpool take legal action against the FA?

the only way to keep everyone happy is to give liverpool title and promote leeds and west brom and have 22 teams next season

no other club could realistically afford to take legal action especially if it could take years to resolve

So if they can't afford it ,it is OK ? What ? They should not be awarded the title unless all other parties are happy ( That is if they have enough money !)

There's still 9 games and 27 points to play for in the Championship. Quite how that equates to it being a foregone conclusion that Leeds and WBA are going up and everybody being happy with that I don't know.

Are you sure that these clubs that can afford to pay people thousands of pounds per week to play football can't cover the cost of a legal team? Especially if there are several clubs who are willing band together?

who knows what will happen but some clubs might be put off spending millions of pounds in litigation to try and argue that they could potentially have finished in a play off spot or automatic qualification spot or could have avoided relegation especially when you look at a club like bolton who were in the championship and struggled financially and are now bottom of league 1

1914 believe it or not we won the league the FA persuaded the government the season should carry on .... the crowds of 15,000 were tops - season tickets on Hire purchase - Bovril gave us £17500 sponsorship just to sell their drink at Goodison park - rifle shooting practice on Saturday am for those interested in joining the army - Lord Derby was a PITA trying to recruit the crowd in to joining up and trying to stop the games...
All in a great book by George Orr after that season conscription was instigated, and all sports were banned untill the war ended our leading goal scorer Bobby Parker came back with a bullet n his backremovedwas nevertheless same player as he was when he shot us to the 1914 title .....

That argument makes no sense whatsoever.

Legal action? On what grounds?
Why would any institution be afraid of legal action by the rs if the season was declared void?

It is a national emergency and people are dying. Many people won’t have a job to go back to after the dust settles. The fallout from this is going to last a long time. Do you really believe any court would entertain hearing this case?

We will be lucky if next season gets up and running never mind finishing off this one.

All sports should declare this year/season as a non entity and try to plan for the next if we are lucky to have that chance.

do you really believe liverpool would just quietly accept the premier league's decision if they declared the season null and void?

of course not, they would fight it all the way to the highest sports court in the world
