Mortality rate = 2.5% (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3291398/), roughly a whole percent lower than our current pandemic. The major difference is infectivity. Thinking about it simply, if covid-19 was allowed to spread unchecked, it would be as-bad or worse.
