Nor Gerald Sindstat or Hugh Johns.Brian Moore and his ilk didn’t need an idiot sat next to him
Along the same lines I think that too many games are ruined by a sending off.One rule I’d like to see adopted is the concept of “fouling out” as seen in basketball. Never a huge fan of implementing stuff from American sports but I do genuinely think this would be a good idea.
Essentially if a player commits a certain number of fouls, regardless of whether they are only minor ones and where they take place on the pitch, then a yellow card is mandatorily given out. If this continues then a red card is eventually given out. Too many times you either see yellow cards given out straight away which seem very harsh, or you see the total opposite where players rack up numerous fouls and a card is never given (I’m looking at you Fernandinho).
This wouldn’t alter for offences which are clearly either deserving a yellow or straight red card- I just think it would help bring some consistency to the game and help the referees. It’s often referred to in football as the “totting up procedure”, but each referee seems to have different standards for when to dish out the cards for such things. So something like 3 fouls is an automatic yellow, 6 for a red would maybe help that.
What about the sin bin for 10 minutes before a sending off? A lot of cynical and bad fouls get leniently treated in-game. More balance to the aggrieved team against the perpetrating team during the game seems fair.Along the same lines I think that too many games are ruined by a sending off.
A red card should mean an enforced substitution rather than going down to 10 players.
You are on about a completely different concept that the Peterborough chairman raised last seasonNo it’s a really bad idea that doesn’t take in to account the cultural differences between the two countries or the youth development systems in place.
If we had a great 16 year old prospect would we be happy for him to be transferred to Macclesfield because they had the first draft pick?
It’s actual nonsense.
