Well we’re about 12m a year better off at present with Niasse, Scherderlin, Steklenberg, Garbutt and Martina off the books. If baines doesn’t sign a new contract that’s probably another 2-3m saved.

He's been one of if not Schalke's best players since the restart. A cash plus Jon joe deal wouldnt be a bad deal in my eyes.

I haven’t seen him play, just read a few things about him. He does seem a player that wouid suit a 2 man midfield, big, powerful, aggressive, fast even if he isn’t fantastic on the ball. I think it’s More important in a 2, to have the other Traits, just my opinion. And as a cheap option alongside another more experienced midfielder could work
