Finger on the pulse there

I think this is the first real bellwether test of where we're at.
We've had a pretty steady first XI and a relatively injury free squad.
Did well against Bournemouth and the usual hoodoos against the RS
so here we are. A good mid level team away from home.
In my book, the first time this season we'll get an idea of where we're at.
Happy with that overall.
West ham looked very limited.
We should be comfortably mid table this season.
Amazing the difference a fit DCL makes to the side
and Branthwaite is outstanding.
Dyche managed the game well.

If west ham ran those half way throw ins any further up the line, they'd have been corners.

Some big performances today. The defence played well, Pickford pulled off a great save, Onana was really good and a cracking finish by DCL. There were a few who were off the pace I thought, McNeil, Harrison and Garner didn't have their best games, but did still play a part in a really good win

Branthwaite was outstanding. Antonio tried to bully him but he got bullied. Branthwaite is improving with every game. Long may it continue.

What Doucs, McNeil, Harrison, Myko and Patterson lack in quality they make up for in effort and doggedness.
in stark contrast to some of the loafers this teams been carrying over the last decade.
Whole team dug in and didn't lose their bottle.
What a difference Branthwaite has made.
I’d argue that Patterson has quality it’s just not been as evident as it should’ve been.
For me the main difference is the midfield. It’s now a functioning unit which allows the forward line to press and it’s taken pressure off the backline, whilst playing some nice stuff too. The pairing of Onana and Garner has and will be crucial to the teams success this season.
Branthwaite has been exceptional.

I went Pickford for MotM

Crucial saves when he had little to do until the last quarter when concentration could easily have slipped.

Just seen the DCL goal. People used to say that he wasn't good with the ball at his feet. How wrong they were. That was an absolute class goal. What a massive difference he makes to us when fully fit. We are going to be ok this season, points deduction or not.

I fancy us against anyone expected to finish between 7th and 14th in the league because they will be expected to have a go, they’re not that good, our press is very good against teams outside the elite, we actually play some decent football when we get the chance too.
In a sea of negativity pre-game, remember you can always count on Shibbywiggles

In fairness, he wasn’t good with his feet. It seems over his injury period he’s managed to improve that side of his game loads, even in the short spells between injuries like his turn for the first goal against Brighton last season. He’s getting better all the time!
