Hi Guys,

I hope you do not mind me puting this messge outside the match thread for Saturday but I thought you might be interested in a West Ham fans view of saturday.

We left sunny Essex at 7:00am.
Driving up the M1 & M6 all we saw was hundreds of Manure fans traveling from Croydon up for their home game.
Arrived & parked at Stanley Park at 11:30hrs.
Went to the club shop, to buy my boy a lapel Everton badge (he collects them from every away ground he has visited). Unbelievably told that the shop didn't have any. So we ended buying one from a street vendor.
Had a quick pint in the Weatherpoons pub then went next door to the Clock to watch the early game.
It was fairly empty to start with but was totally banged out by the end. We were in our colours but the locals were very friendly & we had a good time.
Walked to the ground & was in our seats in the Paddock by 2:30.
My boy managed to get one of the training shirts that the West Ham players were wearing in the warm up, so he was well happy.

The game itself, I thought that the 1st 20 minutes or so Everton were knocking the ball about well but we were comfortable in defense. Tristan should have done better when through on Howard but was let down by his poor control. We then started to get into the game & then Kovac scored with his stunning strike. Again upto the penalty Everton were knocking the ball around but we were comfortable in defence.
The penalty, was a clear but the send off was very harsh. What disappointed me most was that Halsey never game himself time to run it through his mind. He got the card out far to fast he should have taken his time before coming to his decision.
It was the red card and not the penalty that changed the game.
In the 2nd half I thought Everton used the extra man & the width of the pitch extremley well and dragged us all over the place. Yobo's goal was disappointing as it was down to poor marking & he was left on his own making it simple for him. At 2-1 we had 2 great chance with Boa Morte & Cole to equalise. Then Everton got the winner. Pinear's turn was excellent and he put it on a plate for Saha. Through out the game Pinear was excellent & so was Baines. Everton deserved to win but the big factor was the sending off.

I was a little disappointed with the atmosphere. You Everton fans did not really start singing until 2-1 & it wasn't until 3-1 that the volume was cranked up.
Best chant of the day was our 'He's got a birds nest on his head' (to the tune of His got the whole world in his hands) to Flamini.

Got home to Essex by 9pm.

Overall, another most enjoyable trip we had a good laugh, the locals were friendly & the West Ham fans away humour was excellent (as normal). The only regret was that the referee did not give himself time to think before giving the red card.
Saying that I am a firm believer that over a season the decisions even themselves out, excpet for the top 4.

Best of luck for the cup final. All West Ham fans are behind you in that game.

You're always better off going the stalls outside the ground for the badges etc. The club shop is more sutied to the kits and clothes etc than novelty stuff. Its getting closed and re-jigged in 2 weeks anyway. It was rammed when I went passed, probably cos all the stock was going cheap.

I agree about the atmosphere. It picked up later in the game, but in all honesty with this season the fans seem to get more vocal when something happens - poor decision, challenge etc, or when it’s a massive game (Cup game etc ).

Glad you had a good time mate. I thought you looked very decent until the lad got sent off. We definatly took full advantage of the 10 men. Think you have had a great season mate, you should be proud of what Zola has done. Hopefully you keep him for a long time and he doesn't end up at Chelsea

I apologise for the misspelling, it has taken me all season to spell Behrami correctly, so the chances of me getting Fellaini's name right was near impossible. Nothing personal.
How could i get Dowd' mixed up with Halsey:blink:
I must have been the meat & potato pie scrambling my brains, I am only used to pie n mask.
Yes we are well pleased with Zola & Clarke. When you beat us at the Boleyn in November I was fearing the worst. They have turned us round, & we are playing some good stuff. It is a pity that since Feb we have had injuries to big players, Cole, Behrami, Parker & Collison. We are hoping for things to improve next season. Hopefully Ashton & Gabbidon will be fit & the youngsters will have another year's experiance under their belt.
All the best guys & I look forward to corresponding with you next season..

Don't half like Hammers fans. When we went down for the Semi Final we stayed at my aunties house, and you can see Upton Park from her living room. We hung around the pubs there for a few days before the match, watched the London Semi Final in West Ham, and the people there were fantastic.

Seems to be an affinity between East London and Scousers.

Only with the blue half we do not like the red half. It is because you are similar to us, great local support that is there through thick & thin. It is not just about winning trophies but it does help.

Been going to Upton Park for over 12yrs since leaving Liverpool and now living in London. It's my favourite away day
I've got to know a good fair few West Ham fellas over the years and we always have a good drink before and after the game, usually around Plaistow(The Albert, Black Horse/Lion?)
Plus, there always good games and we usually win! ;-)

I don't think many fans can comment on the atmosphere at home grounds, because most home support is absolutely ****.

Yeah we watched the Arsenal/Chelsea game at a pub in Plaistow, was a good laugh.

It has to be said that at times this season our support at home has been third rate . Pin droppingly low noise output . Compare that to say Stoke away when our support was mental and it becomes abit of a shame . Think its just a case of getting too comfortable .

Thought Stoke away was a great day out this season . Worst away for me this season was Blackburn . Icy cold and an awful ground to visit with next to no atmosphere as per usual .
