Credit to allardyce for sorting the defence out, that's a range of different attacking styles we've largely kept at bay now.

However, and he will probably admit as much, we have offered nowhere near enough going forward when we haven't had Rooney. He needs now to try to instil some kind of attacking aggression, arrogance and determination regardless of the players at his disposal.

How would you describe West Brom's attacking style?

so i decided to do some research on west brom's home performances just to see whether a draw is actually a decent result or not at the hawthorns

West Brom 1 Man Utd 2 - west brom had 12 shots on goal, utd only had 8 which is quite suprising
West Brom 0 Palace 0 - west brom had 20 shots on goal, palace had 10
West Brom 2 Newcastle 2 - Newcastle scored a late equaliser but the statistics show that newcastle had more shots than brom - maybe because brom were in the lead and sat back on it allowing newcastle to press them in order to get the equaliser?
West Brom 0 Chelsea 4 - yeah west brom got hammered here but to be fair chelsea only had 11 shots on goal but they still destroyed west brom
West Brom 2 Man City 3 - lets face it not a scoreline to be that emabarassed about given city's form atm
West Brom 2 Watford 2 - similar to the newcastle game - Watford got a 95th minute equaliser - stats show watford had more shots but again could be because they sat back when they went in front
West Brom 0 West Ham 0 - West Ham had more possession and more shots but both sides only managed 1 shot on target
West Brom 1 Stoke 1 - Stoke had more possession and more shots but both sides only managed 2 shots on target
West Brom 1 Bournemouth 0 - a weird game because West Brom had more shots (16 shots) but only 29% possession

its clear that when west brom take the lead they sit back on it and invite pressure - the amount of times they go in front and then concede and finish the match with a draw is crazy

at the same time west brom have only lost at home to Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City which isn't that embarassing

whilst we as fans expect 3 points because of west brom's current standing - you can't really compare us to the level that those 3 sides are at and a draw was probably the best result we could have hoped for

With the players we've got though Eggs, shouldn't we be at least having a go at a team like West Brom, they hadn't won in 17 prem games before today, they have a new manager, but we were negative/defensive the whole game? It was a good job they were gash in front of goal, because they missed 2 sitters in the first half.
Well the Baggies haven't won a Prem League game for 18 games now. So we could have "given it a go" and ended their winless run for them instead.

...settle for that before the game, settle for it after.

For those that are not happy, think about how you felt after Southampton away. Steady the ship, get mid-table mediocrity and then sign the players you need that might make us more expansive.
Whilst I don't disagree with that sentiment at all, my worry is that BFS is not the guy to make us more expansive. Not since Djorkaeff and Jay Jay Okocha has BFS done anything other than we are doing now. Keep it tight, look to nick it on a set piece. Entertainment it is not.

This.

Sam is trying to get a tune out of the same players that Koeman and Unsy failed to do.

Havent seen the game , so cant comment on todays performance but a point away from home and still unbeaten in Sams reign.

COYB's.

I think you overrate our players. Sigurdsson and Bolasie are the only two who have any quality at all.

Unsworth tried to play expansive football and look what happened.

It’s not SA’s fault that we don’t have an
Clean sheet another point and now level with Leicester in 8th place.

Yes a terrible game against poor opposition but we all know we have little to no attack. Just buying time to the transfer window as far as I'm concerned.

This. We need to be pragmatic and realise we're in the process of consolidating. This isn't the end game, we've been dreadful since March, have since sold our best player and have had a confidence-sapping first 3rd of the season.
