I guess I'm the only one who thinks Pienaar isn't quite that good. Good, yes, but not good enough to get into the top four teams (Arteta is still the only one who would, and hopefully Fellaini will be that good).

He does create stuff, but his problem is he is often invisible. And he is no winger, he should play behind the frontmen. He doesn't beat his man on the wing, but has a knack of first-time passing which would be much more useful in that area. Whether he is good enough to give him a free role like that is a different matter.

There is potential but he has to be involved more.
Sorry i disagree with this comment however i am not sure if you were talking about midfielders only when you say only arteta would get in to the top 4. I think Lescott and yakubu would also think cahill would get in

Although not ideal, im glad hes getting a rest he played a lot of football during the summer, im expecting Yak and Yobo to pick up some knocks and strains as the season progreeses!

I was talkin about midfielders. I wasn't too clear on that, sorry. Cahill I think is too one-dimensional, he has heart and scores goals but top clubs don't need to compensate for those things. For instance, Cahill is often compared to Scholes, but Scholes is a much better footballer (much more creative and better passer).

_If_ Cahill stayed fit and scored 10+ goals every season he might have an outside chance but as it is, no chance.

Lescott, Arteta and Yakubu are the only players I could see getting into "top four" teams. The rest I just can't see it to be honest.

A fully fit Louis Saha would as he's proven, we'll have to wait and see how Fellaini develops before we judge.

I think if you remove Man U and Chelsea, then a number of our players would get into the remaining two teams, RS and Arsenal. Perhaps not always as starters, but certainly on the bench. Arteta, Lescott, Piennar, Yakubu, Saha, Yobo and Cahill are good enough and, if members of either of the lower two, would get matches, particularly at the RS.

Hmm

Not sure I agree with all of that.

First, he seems to want the ball more than some others - always making himself available.

Second, whilst he may not beat many players, he can cross the ball. We'll remember his mistake against Man U for a long time. But people seem to forget that Cahill's goal at Old Trafford came from a pinpoint cross delivered from near the corner flag, under pressure from a defender (was it Vidic?) That was real quality.

But I agree that his best position is in the inside left channel. He made a lot of assists there last season. Sunderland, Fulham, Brann - I think he made goals there on all those occasions.

What I think SP gives us is two things: First, he makes angles in and around the box that gets the Yak into space. This is based on his other great asset - tireless running. I wasn't too surprised when he ran out of steam towards the end of last season he was exhausted. There's a little bit of Alan Ball in this lad. I hope he's fitter now than last season. And I hope he's learned from his Old Trafford cock-up.

You're dead right we miss him. He's committed himslef to the blue shirt now and he might, just might become a legend.

We miss him because he's our most creative player, his end product is far better than anyones at the club. 14/15 assists last season proves that, he's no nonsence in the final third. He sees the pass and makes it.

He also links well with Yakubu, there always on the same wavelength. The fact that he covers the most ground in our team is also a bonus.

He's not an out and out winger no and he does struggle to go past defenders for pace but he outhinks them and is a clever player. He pulls players away with his movement and his short passing game is excellent, certainly improves our football.

He is a big miss at the moment, he's probably the player I want back most. More than the likes of Saha, Cahill and Vaughan. Pienaar coming back lets us move Osman to the middle which gives us good balance. When that's sorted the rest can come back and we'll hopefully push on.

How long away is he? 1-2 weeks I think.

Cahill has gone past being one dimensional. He brings something to the team that hardly any players have these days. Something different, i reckon he would fit into Arsenal's or Liverpool's team easy. Arsenal could do with someone like him.

Obviously we know Arteta and Yakubu would.

Pienaar suits a team like Everton. I don't think he's quite good enough to play week in, week out for a top 4 team but he'd certainly be a good squad player for Arsenal. Wenger does like him as a player too and tried to take him to Arsenal.
