Still has a LA trial as well.
23 years.
Wow.
Find it a bit hypocritical that the hashtag me too movement was all about empowering women and victims of sexual abuse yet the vast majority of them all took the cash instead of seeking justice through the courts. Makes me wonder in a lot of these cases what their motives actually were.

It's entirely up to each individual how they seek to deal with their allegations, privacy or anonymity I think would be of upmost concern in many sex crime cases . This case is a little bit different because it was the start of the hashtag me too movement which was very public and a lot of Hollywood stars attaching themselves to it and giving the impression they were fighting on behalf of women all over the world who were victims of sexual abuse or harassment, yet lots took the cash offered to them before a trial. It seems a bit meek of the movement if that's the standard. I'm sure it would've looked better if they'd of all took the stand against him especially after being so vocal about the accussations.Have you ever considered that some of the women involved might not have had much choice than to accept the cash and that the alternatives for them may have been quite unpleasant ?????

You make a fair point, the #MeToo movement was started as, and continues to be, a movement of justice and solidarity for women, yet some of the women who made the allegations took money even before the trial, as you said. It's a shame. I'm not actually very familiar with this case, but if it's true that he sexually assaulted or raped women, then I'm glad they've thrown the book at him. It's entirely up to each individual how they seek to deal with their allegations, privacy or anonymity I think would be of upmost concern in many sex crime cases . So much wrong with this.
For a start, the settlement made between Weinstein's firm and some of his victims was to settle a civil trial - which would only have awarded a cash sum to the victims anyway. Secondly it was his firms insurers that paid out, as part of its bankrupcy proceedings, not him. Finally lots of Hollywood stars attached themselves to it probably because lots of Hollywood stars had been victimized by him; one of them gave evidence in this trial (though Weinstein was found not guilty of that particular charge).
No mate, it was the women who were the problem #FreeGentleHarv
