Qualifying for Europe is huge. It's embarrassing how we played in it this year but getting a better manager and players would rely on Europe.

What else do we really have to play for in this current PL set up? We aren't finishing top 4 any time soon.

A definitive no-no to Europa league,it's small time and the top clubs don't want to be associated with it. All we do in it is get humiliated by average sides. We don't play the syle of football to last in European competitions.

One thing I will say is if we get Europa we have to give Sam next season, after the releagtion scare we had to turn it around so much he will deserve another season

No. He hasn’t even done particularly well results wise.
Looking at PL results.

Koeman had 9 games and got 8 points.
After Allardyces first 9 games, he had 9 points.
(Unsy got 7 points from 5)

Koeman had to play Chelsea, city, united away. Arsenal and spurs at home. (Got a point vs city, only team to do so for a long time).

Allardyce has had Spurs and Liverpool away. United and Chelsea at home. (Got a point vs Chelsea and liverpool)

He has also played 2 promoted teams, the bottom team Swansea, and lost to Bournemouth who Koeman Beat.

He only looks good cause he got 4 points from last two games making 13 points from 11 matches. He hasn’t done anything special or saved us. Just continued the dross.

Edit, I’m not advocating Koeman, he was awful, but just want some perspective seen about Allardyce and what he has actually done for us.

Yeah this is all true but Sam has had one window, Koeman had plenty and plenty of money but didn't build a squad capable, that alone was criminal. Sam has had to pick that squad up, which couldn't of been easy

Yes of course we should hope for Europa - as a way to increase our visibility, make us more attractive to good players in transfer mkt, and potential to qualify for CL.

Europa league is not what caused us problems this season- we failed because we sold lukaku to early (and possibly unnecessarily- see coutinho) and played all games with essentially no real striker, and a team of no 10s, plus Koeman's terrible man management skills.

Ofc we can finish 7th, the league outside six sides is utter dogturd, could argue that it's rubbish outside of 5 now as arsenal have gone backwards hugely.

Should we want to get into Europe, ofc we should, outside if winning something which we look miles off, European footy at least gives us something extra, and is shot at winning something else at least.

If Coleman stays fit I reckon we will finish 7ty as well, he's that massive a factor in this side.

What so are you saying Arsenal would rather swap places with us?

You either have a loser mentality or very strong delusions of grandeur if you aren't striving to be in Europe as an Evertonian.

It's one or the other.

Current form suggests: 1 City (obviously) 2 United 3 YKW 4 Spurs 5 Chelsea 6 Arsenal

7 Leicester
8 Everton
9 Burnley ? - though slipping

the rest could be almost any order.. I will hazard a guess

10 West Ham
11 Palace
12 Bournemouth

perm any 3 from 8 to go down

13 Swansea
14 West Brom
15 Stoke
16 Southampton
17 Newcastle
18 Watford
19 Huddersfield
20 Brighton

How the table would look if last 10 game form replicated in next 10 games.. All played 35

1 City 93

2= Spurs, United, RS 71
5 Chelsea 68

6 Arsenal 56

7 Leicester 48
8 Burnley 45
9= Everton, West Ham 44
11 Palace 42
12 Bournemouth 41

13 Swansea 37

14= Newcastle, Huddersfield 33
16= Watford, Stoke 32
18 Brighton 31
19 Southampton 29
20 West Brom 27

I can almost taste it...

Could have been some much worse Dave

We have a shot at the Europa places, and I expect us to finish 7th or 8th. If we do get to the Europa for next season, Sams pragmatism might be just the right way to go in that competition. I can se us conceding very little away and reckon we could have a good run,out of the group stages at least, regardless of who we play.
