Bit of a shame that it didn't turn out better with him really, but I think a lot of people had those concerns when he rejoined anyway. He's managed a couple good moments though - playing in Europe with Everton and scoring a hattrick at Goodison. Think he ended up being our top goalscorer as well.

As part of the worst European campaign by any UK team, ever. The least said about our European efforts the better, get shut and move on.

Dunc went to prison and was a bit of a thig.

Gerrard attacked a lad with a bottle.

Baxter with his drug problems.

Kendal was an alcoholic.

All of these are worse than what rooney has done.

I think the lengths people go to to defend him is sad myself. He’s done nothing at all to warrant hero worship from us. Him leaving should be treated as just another squad player going out the door. But of course, he’s a local lad so people treat any dissenting opinion of him as a personal attack on themselves.

He played mostly in the forward roles when he scored the majority of his goals

I think we will get a fee but continue to pay a chunk of his wages, the fee will be around the same amount as the cost of the wages. As I understand it, could easily be wrong here, due to FFP rulings we can only increase the wage bill by 5% per year so reducing our net wage bill wouldn't benefit us long-term, also receiving the fee helps reduce any trading loss for the financial year, also helping us comply with FFP.
